Hi fellow DVC members....

Had the bright idea yesterday to head down to WDW again  and surprise the kids over the Martin Luther King Jr. weekend. Since the MK is open until 11pm that Sat night, I don't think I'm the only one who had this bright idea !! We have ap's to use until Feb 1 so I HAVE to use them one more time! :earboy2:

Has anyone tried recently to book with points for a 1 bedroom for that weekend? I hate having to wait until Monday - and airfare went up from yesterday until today... Gotta love those airline prices - NOT!

thanks everyone!

I am trying too. Last week Sat. had rooms at BWV and OKW but nothing Sunday anywhere. I am in waitlist right now for anywhere. Goodluck. It is my son's birthday. Boy will he be disappointed if we have to stay off site.

I've been trying to get Sunday the 16th for weeks now in a studio. If you have AP's you could get a value resort at $49 instead... Just a thought. They did have OKW studio availability for that date when I called on Wednesday. I sometimes test the waters by checking CRO availability through the website...
That deal is so good that I'm almost (almost) thinking about NOT taking the studio if it becomes available. Depends on the extended forecast.

That cheap price made sure I'd get an AP over a 10 day pass. I had an offsite hotel but this is $25 per night cheaper. Subtract the $100 for the DVC discount and $75 in hotel savings plus the option to park without paying...sounds good to me!!!

I was told they had nadda, zilch for Sunday... sigh... I don't think the trip is going to happen. Our option would be to stay off-site for Sat/Sun and then hook up with points on Monday but I really don't know that it's worth the trouble and expense. Sigh... Bummed.... :sad2:

I understand. I booked a BWV GV seven months out for Jan. 16-21 never realising that this would include a holiday weekend. I found out the hard way. My bro-in-law and his family decided to hitch along on our trip about 4 or 5 weeks ago. When I called to get them a studio, I could only get Mon. through Fri.----no Sunday night. I am now on a waitlist. So I called to reserve four rooms for Sat. the night of our arrival; No Annual Pass Discount; Saturday and Sunday nights are blackout periods. Plus, I had a horrible time getting four rooms for Sat. and one for Sun.. I kept plugging away and it worked out; however, my in-laws will spend Sat. in Pop Century, Sun. at OKW and Mon. - Fri. at BWV.
Good luck!!! I hope that everything works out for you.

I've been on a waitlist for an OKW GV for the night of the 17th for 5 or 6 months now. So as it stands now, we will be moving twice during our trip. To try and move only once, I have been calling to see if there was anything available for the night before at OKW and have been told nope for all this time.

PD coming your way if you send some to me.... :)

Very popular weekend with the locals who can drive there for a nice extended weekend. Good luck.

I have been trying to book roundabout that time and was told the 17th is a problem for most rooms.

I booked a standard view studio for Jan 15th sometime in November (can't remember if it was the 9th or 29th) at BWV when I found out they were taping Millionaire that weekend. I already had Jan 16-28 in a standard view studio booked at 11 months out. This is the first time I have ever made my reservations 11 months in advance. I usually make them at the 7 month mark or later and wait list it....biting my nails all the way. My home resort is BWV and I just never think 11 months in advance!

I think I'll stick to booking 11 months out from now on. It's too easy when they have the room you want available!

I was able to get a 1 bedroom standard view at BWV for Jan 17-21 (just a few weeks ago), but not for Sunday night. They had nothing, nowhere!! I ended up booking a pool view at AKL. It was expensive, but I figured with what we had saved getting a standard (didn't think that would be available) that it was worth it. It'll be my mom's first trip in 10 years and first time staying on site! :jumping4:

We booked a 2 bed. at the BCV back in Sept. for the 13-17th because the BWV were not available. I was told the problem was the Sunday and Monday nights of the trip. I was waitlisted for any view at the BWV starting in Sept and after reading this thread realize how lucky I am that the waitlist came through (just on 12/13!). I didn't know the MK was open until 11pm on Sat! Yea! Pixie dust to you Annette! Hope you find something!
