I'm about 1/3 of the way into it and I can't recall the last time I was so bored. Does she always write in this style? The characters have the all the personality of a history text! Which I don't mind, if I'm reading a history text. I haven't read any of her Tudor series as I'm not keen on that time period. So I'm not familiar with her writing style. This one reads like the main character is in a hypnotic trance recounting her life. Not sure if I will finish it, I already know how it ends ;)

I liked the Tudor series...but I do find the first chapter or so a bit dry as I have to get to know the characters. That being said, I tried to read Wide Acre and coudn't get through it.

I'm disappointed to hear that! I usually love her books and was looking forward to this one. I just finished The Lost Symbol by Dan Brown and that was going to be my next one. Oh well.. have to find something else!

I liked The White Queen it starts off a lot slower then some of her other books ( I think the Boelyn books are my fav). Keep reading if you can it get's a lot better!! At least I hope it does for you ;)

I guess it's the lack of character involvement, it's like looking at a painting. It feels flat to me. She is a good writer and it may just be the style she adopted for this book but I tend to prefer more dimension in the characters. I will likely finish it, simply because I like the story. For the same period of time from a different point of view I recommend 'The Sunne in Splendour' by Sharon Kaye Penman.

I am a Phillippa Gregory fan; however, something about this book just does not interest me. I've picked it up a few times, read the cover, and just put it back down. I honestly think that Phillippa is going the way of Danielle Steele, Jodi Picoult, James Patterson, and the like; i.e., she's become a book producing machine.

I suggest is you want to enjoy Phillippa Gregory, work on her earlier stuff which has some great character development and "meat" in the stories. The White Queen might be okay, but so far, I'm not interested.

I've read one book she has written and it was by far the most boring book I've ever read. I'm too scared to read anything else by her.

I began reading this book and then found something I liked better. That was 3 months ago and I haven't gone back to The White Queen yet.
