OK, so I like reading the series. It is very well written and it is my fluffy genre, when I want to escape the real world. And I have a question about the last book

When Eragon and Saphira find the star metal under the Menoa tree, and he says he will give her anything she wants, and he feels a pain in his belly, what do you think the tree did? Did she take from him the gift of long life? Any ideas?

I wondered about that too. I just assumed that the tree had transfered some of the pain that Saphira had caused her into Eragon. But now I wonder...
