We just bought one!!! A 2006 Highlander V6 black with grey interior. (not the hybrid)!!! So far we love it!! Anybody here have one? Do you like it? :goodvibes

::yes::

Love it!! 2001. No problems with it at all.
Can't think of anything about it that I don't like :)

Mine's a 2005 bought one year ago. Haven't had a single problem, love the ride, the comfortable seats, the third-row option, and it felt very solid on the ice and snow we had over the winter. It's also very quiet. One of the people I carpool with is now thinking about getting one.

The Toyota Highlander is one of the SUV's we are seriously considering.

Wasn't it voted most reliable vehicle or something?

I'd like a Porshe Cayenne, but I don't think that's going to happen, more money than I want to spend!

What about side airbags and roll-over? Not be all doom and gloom, but I have a new driver here and I know I would NEVER put her behind the wheel of a 4-Runner...I was nervous driving that. You could feel it "not hugging" the road on turns over 15 mph.
We are in the market as well, thinking:
Honda Pilot, Highlander in the SUV range...
Mazda 3/ Honda Civic in the compact range
Honda Accord/ Toyota Camry in the full size...but I like the 2007 Camry, and don't know if we will be able to hold out that long.
Can't do bells and whistles on ANY of them...just need reliable and safe.

Pam

Anyone have the hybrid? DH and I are considering that for his next vehicle.

I have a 2005 Highlander--one of the more basic models. I did not get the 4-wheel drive because it was out of my budget and, honestly, we really don't need it here in the D.C. area. I did drive it during some of our small snowstorms this winter and it did quite well.

I like it because it is built on a car body and not on a truck body, so it has a real "car" feel to it while driving versus that wobbly/bouncy truck feeling. I find it very comfy to drive.

I also have the 7 seating option, although you would only want to put kids back there.

I *wish* I could have gotten the hybrid but it was a bit to pricey for me.

I have a 2001 V6 Limited. I haven't had any problems. It now has over 85,000 miles on it. Still going strong!

DH and I are looking to buy one at the end of the year - it will be our first new car ever. Everyone I know who has one, loves it. But a friend of mine read in AAA's newsletter that the "hybrid" feature causes concerns if there's an accident. Something about the electricity travelling through the metal body and posing a danger to emergency personnel using the Jaws of Life. Anyone know anything about that?

I have a 2006 Highlander Hybrid. So far - so good. It's so quiet when we turn it on, that you don't even know it's on until you put it in gear. We've only had it for about a month. We'll probably take some road trips this summer. I think I'm getting around 30 MPG (I get confused since we had a Civic Hybrid & it got 40 MPG)

2004 V6 limited here, silver...I LOVE MY CAR. It is wonderful! I would recommend it to anyone., In fact my MIL is going to get one.

I have a 2006 Hybrid Highlander loaded with all the bells & whistles. It's great. I'd say the only disappointment is the GPS. I really wish it had voice activation. The car has to be completely stopped to use it. And it's missing so many streets and businesses from it's database that it's more frustrating than useful.

I want one SO BAD but just can't handle the car payment right now.

Sigh....

WHAT DOES THAT MEAN...the car has to be completely STOPPED?? My Son is getting a $3000.00 GPS system installed in his Chevy TrailBlazer on Monday...that does not seem right that you have to be STOPPED to get the directions....ugh

The Toyota GPS requires that the car be stopped in order for you to enter any info into it. Not all GPS are like that though. I understand they don't want the liability of people typing while driving, but it's an expensive add-on and it should offer a voice activated option.

If that were the only issue, I wouldn't be as mad. The street I live on, which is 50+ years old, is not in the database. The database also doesn't list businesses, like Costco and Home Depot, that have been open in my area for 5-10+ years. Instead it gives me directions to stores that are 30 miles away. :sad2: IMO, the Toyota GPS option is a total waste of money.

Thanks for the reply, I am going to show this thread to my son and see what he says about the gps he is getting. It by ECLIPSE that is all I know and comes with both SIRIUS and XM satellite radio, you have them free for 6 months and then need to pick ONE and drop the other. He is leaning towards the SIRIUS for the football channel. Also it is a DVD player, CD player, can play his IPOD thru it and has a slot for the MAGIC-STIC so when he takes pics on the road with his digital camera he can download them onto his system and view them. He is planning to go cross-country in May for 3 weeks MA to CA..hence the need for this gps system. (Personally, I feel it is rather costly)!! He still has ON-STAR and will leave that alone. OVERKILL, IMO!!!!!

Sorry for the hijacking your thread MickeyMouth.

momrek06 - Have your son check on how hard it is to change the area for the GPS. As he travels cross country, he will enter different zones and need to download those maps. I have a friend that bought and new Corvette and while the GPS is much better than mine, Chevy shipped the car from the east coast and getting the west coasts maps on it was a bit of a challenge for the dealership.

This is an issue with all hybrids. There is the potential of electric shock to the rescue people when using the jaws of life. So, I heard that if you have a hybrid, they will not use the jaws of life on that vehicle.

YES, I am also SORRY to the OP for jumping in here....

HONU: I just asked my son and he has the entire country, alaska, hi and mexico all on that hard drive thingy...as you can see/read, I am horrible with anything hi-tech (does anyone even use that word anymore). Anyway, no downloading, so that is all set.
Still as the mom, wayyyy over the top with all this, esp where he already has the ONSTAR.

The new Consumer Reports Auto Issue gives the Cayenne a poor rating.
