I recently bought this camera after years of saving for it, unfortunately it did not come with a user guide in english!! I must not be doing something right as far as the settings, because I feel like the pictures look the same as pictures I've taken with my 3 mp canon.

Does anyone have any tips on setting up this camera for action shots/night shots to get the most detail? I feel like these types of pictures come out the worst.

It's kind of a long story, but I planned on buying this camera when it came out, and i almost was going to get it at one point. I've had the battery and charged waiting in my closet for a long time to join said camera. I know now that it was a bit of a stupid thing to do, after I paid for it I went to the store and kinda perused the camera aisle and noticed I could have gotten a brand new, better Canon for the same price. I guess I just never gave up on this particular camera. I'll probably end up selling it when I get money for a Nikon.

BTW, thanks for the link!

The Pro1 is an outstanding P&S camera. With good light and set to ISO50, it can take pictures that will be (almost) as good as a low-end dSLR. And in fact, probably often better than a dSLR with kit lens - the lens on the Pro1 is excellent.

Add to that the 18-200mm equivalent focal range of that lens, and you have a camera that is great for holidays.

However, it is now a bit long in the tooth. Its ISO400 performance isn't great, it's pretty slow and has a rather unpleasant movie mode.

But I am sure you will still be able to get a _lot_ of really nice photographs with it!

regards,
/alan
