OK, I'm back to being nervous again --- Tropical Depression has been upgraded to Tropical Storm Jeanne which is forecast to pass over the Bahamas and become upgraded to hurricane status.

Found this site while checking things out... they are continually updating it. Looks a bit to the East of the Bahamas.

Touch each dot and it tells the predicted path and speeds, category, etc... pretty interesting. Hopefully she will move as quickly as it looks like they are predicting.

I love that website with the dots! It does look as though Jeanne may veer off away from Florida - thanks for the happy thoughts.

My son and I watched the Disney Cruise dvd tonight. We had watched it once before back in April when I first booked the cruise. Seeing it again, I can't believe it is already 5 months later and we are almost there!

Yikes ~ I am also worried about Jeanne and our cruise!

All these storms are unreal! I have waited 5 years for this cruise and I have to keep the faith that I will be going.

Now that I think about it, I should be ashamed to be worrying about not going on a cruise when I am safe in central PA. But some days after watching the weather channel and reading some storm stories on these boards it is very hard to stay upbeat.


(My prayers are with those poor people in FL and surrounding states).

Ahhhhh finally back from cleaning out my sons apartment in Ft Walton Beach. Took us 4 hours to get to Tallahassee from FWB because of evacuation traffic. Everyone in his complex had evacuated. Ivan is scary!

Just glad that I stumbled on to the site, seems a bit different from the others, maybe it will make things better? Ahhhh the power of wishful thinking.

Lisa - Glad you made it back ok. Was on I-75 yesterday and strangely enough the heavy traffic was going North - but I must clarify - 80% of it was National Guard units, tree service companies and utility trucks heading up to the Panhandle. It was amazing!! I lost count after about 90 military vehicles.

We saw alot of power trucks and tree services heading that way. Traffic was horrible all the way to Ocala. It took us an extra 3 hours to get home. I'm not complaining though, just glad to be home.

Lisa, glad you got home safely. I am praying for those in the path of Ivan. Lets hope storm #11 alias Jeanne goes out to sea and heads north to nowhere! I am nervous about being called out to the panhandle because I am on Florida's Crisis Response team, but I do believe that this Ivan will bring weeks of recovery , if not months, so I will be able to be on a team when I get off the ship. I need this cruise and my kids are so very excited.

I have also been praying for those in Ivans path. I cannot believe how destructive Ivan has been. I hope there is no more loss of life because of Ivan.

Yeah, 9 and counting.

Just saw an update on Jeanne, it is suppposed to stay in the atlantic (and hopefully out to sea) and not come too close to Florida. The only thing I am concerned about is the Bahamas, Again!!! Let hope and pray that the Bahemians stay safe. It is a cat 1 hurricane, but after Frances they had a lot damage.
Can't wait for this cruise. I am ready to go stand in line right now for Palo's ressies!!!!

Jeanne better go away soon! From what I have heard she won't be coming near Florida, although they always remind us that we are "in the track of possibilities" just to make us crazy!

I am so worried about the panhandle now. Ivan was such a rough storm.

I thought our DIS meet could be at the Promenade Lounge on Deck 3 after the lifeboat drill but before the Sail Away. Sound ok with everyone? Hope to see everyone there!

Just making sure that this is still the plan as many people are getting ready for their departure in the next few days. So about 4:30ish in the lounge and we'll plan from there for the Sail Away party?

Hmm... hopefully someone (or a few someones) will have a green Mickey or button (or something) so that we can recognize each other!?!

Or maybe a secret wave??

OK -

I'll write this down in my planner.

I have a heavy heart though - looking at the Jeanne forecast. It looks like she is headed straight at mid-Florida on Wednesday morning and we are due to fly into Orlando on Wednesday afternoon.

I doubt that any plane is going to have flights going into a hurricane. I don't know what's going to happen to our reservations or how to go about figuring out what to do.

I can't bear the thought of endangering my family by flying into a hurricane.

Does it sound like I'm a nervous wreck?? Basically, I have stopped looking forward to this trip and am very bummed about that.
