Anyone notice a dirty bathroom theme in the Parks lately?

We just got back from a trip last week and though all of the parks themselves were clean as usual I noticed most of the bathrooms I went in were not. I understand there are a large volume of people at any given time going through them but I have to say in comparison to previous trips they were by far the dirtiest I have seen them. There were usually at least 2 or 3 toilets that weren't flushing properly with people continuing to use them so that in itself was pretty bad. But I also noticed large amounts of toilet paper on the floors, women's personal products on the floors, hand towels being out in a few locations... Thre funny thing is in MK and Epcot there were custodial CMs standing outside of the bathrooms. They were either just standing there telling people 'hello' or having conversations with other CMs. The biggest shock was at dinner when I went to use the restroom in Crystal Palace and it was dirty, they always keep that one spotless. I'm sure the economy and job cuts probably have something to do with it too. I was just wondering if anyone else there recently had noticed it?

Did you mention this to the custodial CM's or anyone else? Typically if you tell someone something like this it's dealt with fairly quickly.

oh yes! we were there 2 weeks ago and i noticed that!

the one by comic rays/mickey's store was gross.

the one by tusker house in AK was 2nd to worst.

the worst was the one connected to kouzzina. AWFUL. toilets were stuffed and not flushing. paper all over the floor.

i told the cast member and she said she knew and that disney hadn't sent anybody out there to clean it up and it wasn't the 1st time that week.

the rest were ok. def. not the way it use to be!

They were very clean over the 4th of July. It was rare to walk in to a rest room and not see a CM cleaning away.

From previous experience, I know that the Epcot rest rooms can get pretty nasty fast during the food and wine festival.

From personal experience it seems when a business or a town starts to go "downhill" the public restrooms show the change first.

Yes I noticed dirty bathrooms last week too but I also noticed as often as not a CM was also already in there cleaning. Yes an always a toliet or 2 that was not working properly. I can't say the bathrooms this trip was any worse than than in June or Jan of this year. Over the last few yrs there has been a decline in how clean bathrooms are at disney. 10 yrs ago it was very rare to see the tinest piece of toliet paper on floor.

This trip is the first time I've ever had to check to see if the stall had toilet paper. Usually everything is properly stocked. Thankfully dd and I usually are in there together so we could help each other out! It was my assumption that maybe personel is being cut back in those areas....hopefully I'm wrong.

We were there 9/30-10/6. Floors were all clean, papertowels stocked, etc., but the toilets were a mess. The attendants were in and out of the stalls trying to fix the situation, but wherever there were autoflush toilets things were particularly bad.

I had read this before and watched for it a few weeks ago and thought they were very clean. I did see cms in there several times cleaning.

It's as if they have to send a CM in after every guest to clean up after.

If Disney did that would guests feel like they are being watched and (what follows is also a question) would guests behave better as a result?

Or have a CM there almost all the time and make it look to every guest as if it was routine cleaning time when the guest entered the rest room.

Also to wipe off the water sloshed all over the vanities.

Maybe if people weren't such slobs:confused3 Not saying Disney isn't at fault, but when people don't care , it kind of makes it hard for employees to keep up. Personally I think the CMs that clean the restrooms deserve a BIG FAT KUDOS! I can't imagine dealing with that mess on a constant basis

You are so right!!!

Where I work we share the restroom with Joe Public. And even though we have housekeeping in our business whenever we are open, the bathrooms can get nasty. It is very noticable that people have become more and more piggy over the last few years. :sad2:

I noticed too when DD4 & I were doing "The WDW Potty Tour of Sept. 09!" We got just about every potty in every park...I even commented every time we came out of the bathrooms to my hubby that women's restrooms have to be worse the men's!!

When we were there in Aug. we found the following bathrooms disgusting and there were no CMs around or I would have reported it:
1) Cosmic Rays Restaurant
2) 50's Prime Time / Hollywood & Vine (shared bathroom)
3) ABC Commissary
4) Sci Fi

What bothers us the most is that they seem to center around restaurants, and I make my kids wash before we eat, and it doesn't help to have gross bathrooms.

We noticed it also. Some bathrooms I wouldn't even use, they were that filthy. :confused3

We were at WDW Sept. 14 to 24. Other than the occasional stall that people left in bad shape, the bathrooms were just fine. Some people are just pigs. I made it a point to thank the cleaning CMs when they were present.

:cheer2::cheer2::cheer2:

We didnt find the toilets too much of a mess when we were there Aug/Sept this year although we did see a lot of cm's standing around chatting to each other. Sometimes it seems the people using the facilities just dont clean up after themselves. I saw a few younger children pulling loo rolls and paper towels off their containers and leaving them on the floor - surely their parents could clean up after them?

On our trip in February 2008 - there were some super nasty bathrooms.

The one by Pinnochio's restaurant (what is that one called?), the one at Cosmic Rays, and the Downtown Disney McDonalds.

They were all unusable. The bathrooms were gross all the way back then.

:confused3

I was there September 5-14 and all the bathrooms were pretty much perfect, except for the one at the Epcot entrance on the west (Seas/Land/Imag) side once. But I used it probably 4 times or so and only once was it less than great. Oh, and I noticed "out of order" signs on stalls twice (one at Boma/Jiko and I forget the other, one of the big main park bathrooms somewhere).

Of the ones mentioned above as problems, I used the ones at Kouzzina/Boardwalk Bakery and Sci-Fi/ABC Commissary and they were fine.

Unfortunately there are CMs who just don't care about their jobs and that is really frustrating to those of us who do. I take pride in keeping my restrooms clean.

There are also a lot of messy people. I can leave for 15 minutes and come back and it can look as if I had never been there. Also, keep in mind that the CM may be taking care of more than 1 restroom and all of them may be busy.

I've also noticed that we've had a lot of problems with toilets not flushing or overflowing. Maintenance isn't always good about fixing them in a timely manner.
