Anyone notice a dirty bathroom theme in the Parks lately?

Unfortunately there are CMs who just don't care about their jobs and that is really frustrating to those of us who do. I take pride in keeping my restrooms clean.

There are also a lot of messy people. I can leave for 15 minutes and come back and it can look as if I had never been there. Also, keep in mind that the CM may be taking care of more than 1 restroom and all of them may be busy.

I've also noticed that we've had a lot of problems with toilets not flushing or overflowing. Maintenance isn't always good about fixing them in a timely manner.

I'm with you! I clean office buildings for extra money and I am shocked at how messy and piggy some people can be. They have no respect for the people who have to clean up after them or even the people who have to use the restrooms after them. They throw used paper towels on the floor, pour soda or coffee down the sink and not rinse it down with water, leave empty soda bottles on the sink, etc. I always wonder what these people's houses look like or if they are better behaved at home when they have to clean up after themselves. :confused3

Thank you to pp's who said they thank cleaning staff when they see them. I do too! :)

I was there the first week in August and I actually commented about how clean the restrooms were. Maybe I just happened to be on the same path as the custodial cm, and was entered the bathrooms right after they cleaned!

Lately?? I noticed the downhill in cleanliness a couple of years ago with their bathrooms  This has been going on, I am surprised many here haven't noticed it before. I do know this was mentioned a few years back as well..

I didnt notice this at all. In fact in several bathrooms there was a cm constantly working the whole time I was in there.

Thank you very very much for being a big part of our families enjoyment of the park!

I was there the 1st week of Sept...and yes...this was the dirtest I have ever seen them. Although some were clean...some were disgusting. Really was hit or miss on the bathrooms. They have definatly been much cleaner in previous vacations.

I noticed too when DD4 & I were doing "The WDW Potty Tour of Sept. 09!" We got just about every potty in every park...I even commented every time we came out of the bathrooms to my hubby that women's restrooms have to be worse the men's!!

Oh they definitely are. When I worked at Busch Gardens we would play rock paper scissors to see who had to clean the women's restrooms after closing.

I agree with people being a part of the problem. I noticed lots of people being incondsiderate in the restrooms. I was just suprised that I saw way more filthy restrooms this trip than in past trips. And I give big kudos to those who have to clean up after park guests.

We were there the last week of September and I didn't notice a theme of dirty restrooms. Some were very clean, some needed a little touch ups. The main thing I noticed were the toilets that didn't flush. Maybe people don't realize that if the toilet doesn't automatically flush you can push the button with hand or foot and it will flush. I think this would help the problem a lot!

Are we talking like I need to bring my own toilet paper or those paper seat covers or are we talking bring my own soap/hand sanitizer?? I can't stand dirty bathrooms.

3 days mid SEPT - fairly busy. Restrooms were all clean and I walked in numerous times to see a person cleaning up. Maybe they have changed the attendant rotation and it depends on the your timing. The parks as a whole were in good shape and clean.

Over the last few yrs there has been a decline in how clean bathrooms are at disney. 10 yrs ago it was very rare to see the tinest piece of toliet paper on floor.

I SECOND this! I have slowly seen a trend over the last 10 years where Disney has just gotten dirtier in general. My husband and I used to joke that we wanted to drop a piece of paper just to watch to see if a CM grabbed it before it even touched the ground.
I had seen on a t.v special where they said that when a CM finished painting say, a hand rail or whatever on their "to do" list that it was already time to start to paint it over again.
My thoughts are that bathrooms are dirtier, paint is peeling in places, some rides are not kept up like they used to be.
I still love Disney very much, but find it very sad that they cut costs at the expense of the park (and the guests who visit).

I agree that some women are real pigs - apparently their parents didn't teach them consideration for others....

Since we have encountered disgusting bathrooms so many times, we just go back to our resort and use our own bathroom....we always stay in the Epcot area anyway since we spend so much time in Epcot and DHS - it's a quick walk back to our resort and no dealing with the ick....

Not to dampen anyone's enthusiasm for bashing other people, but one must take into account that other cultures don't have the same toilet habits as we do... and consider where the toilet cleaners figure into the local social structure.

Not saying it's right, but just pointing out that people come to WDW literally from all over the world.

In other words, always check the toilet seat for footprints... :cool2:

I saw a lot of the bathrooms when we went 9/12-9/20 and they seemed perfectly fine to me. Many times somebody was in there cleaning something.

The only problem I seemed to encounter was people who have no clue how to deal with the autoflush toilets. Seriously, if the thing doesn't flush, don't just walk out. All you have to do is wave a hand in front of the sensor and, if that fails, lightly press the button behind the toilet with your foot. You're hopefully going to wash your hands afterward anyway, so even if you did press it with a finger, so what?

I've noticed that some restrooms get a little less TLC from WDW than others. RMulieri makes a good point that all the bathrooms would be improved if guest weren't so slovenly. I don't know about the women's restroom, but in the men's restroom guys get really lazy with their aim. Do you think they'd pee all over the floor at home?

I definitely had to press more than a few buttons with my foot on this past trip. That would solve a lot of the messiness if people knew or cared to do that.

As for the previous poster who brought up people from other countries, I don't feel like it's bashing people when talking about hygeine when sharing a public restroom. And I do respect other cultures; I lived in another country for 15 months and most of their public restrooms they didn't want you to flush toilet paper but instead throw it in the trash. O.K. that was really gross to me but because it caused a problem in their public toilets if it was flushed I did what they asked. When in Rome... The foreigners who come here may have different restroom standards but I took the time to educate myself on another countries bathroom etiquette when I was there, I feel they can do the same.

While I agree that people using the bathrooms can be less than considerate, the bathrooms should be kept clean. I urge anyone who has seen a decline in cleanliness to write a letter to Disney. There is no other way to let them know that cutting back on custodians is unacceptable and that there has been a noticable difference.

I don't really think it's from cutbacks. From my observations at MK, there aren't that many women working in custodial. It's mostly men. Not many women want to work in custodial.

I do want to mention that when the parks are expected to be busy, the restrooms will be split up so that we may do only 1 or 2 rather than 3 or 4, like this past weekend.

Yes, I noticed this also. We were there from Sept 23 - Oct 11 and they were the worst I have EVER seen at Disney. Everything from no soap, no paper towels and no tisssue to just plain dirty. Also at a number of locations such as Cytal Palace and 1900 Park Fare there were often toilets that were out of order. Those locations don't have large restrooms to begin with.
It was especially upsetting when DH took dd 6 to the restroom and there was throw-up all over in one stall and blood (he thought a bloody nose) in another - which can happen and he did see a custodian going in on his way out, however when he went back in 10 mintes later the custodian was gone and the mess was still there - this was at Columbia Harbour House on 10.10
