Anyone notice a dirty bathroom theme in the Parks lately?

We were at WDW last week, and not once did I notice a disgusting, or dirty, or unclean bathroom.
Of course, my party and myself wasn't on the look out for those, either.
It's pretty much do the duty, wash the hands thoroughly (and make sure DS does also), and out the door to enjoy more of the theme parks!:thumbsup2

these things are a matter of perception one persons clean is anothers OK and anothers EWWWW. you can get to a toilet right after a custodial castmember has left or before he gets there and get two different snapshots on cleanliness. also i have been told by people who know such things that mens rooms are left cleaner than ladies rooms by the users................................................................ i am going to regret that aren't i?

Maybe if people weren't such slobs:confused3 Not saying Disney isn't at fault, but when people don't care , it kind of makes it hard for employees to keep up. Personally I think the CMs that clean the restrooms deserve a BIG FAT KUDOS! I can't imagine dealing with that mess on a constant basis

People (kids) have always been messy. Cleaning high traffic areas are normal. Cleanliness is paying attention to detail, something that Disney has lost.

I SECOND this! I have slowly seen a trend over the last 10 years where Disney has just gotten dirtier in general. My husband and I used to joke that we wanted to drop a piece of paper just to watch to see if a CM grabbed it before it even touched the ground.
I had seen on a t.v special where they said that when a CM finished painting say, a hand rail or whatever on their "to do" list that it was already time to start to paint it over again.
My thoughts are that bathrooms are dirtier, paint is peeling in places, some rides are not kept up like they used to be.
I still love Disney very much, but find it very sad that they cut costs at the expense of the park (and the guests who visit).

We too use to joke like that.. I couldn't agree more with the decline. I know it is budget cuts and not really "lazy" CM's. CM's can only do so much. Years ago they had more CM's to go around to catch that paper falling, now they have staggering times before going in to clean.. and people do tend to be pigs when they don't have to clean it.

During our 2 week stay I didn't notice it at all. I am a very picky restroom person and I didn't feel as if I had any problem.

One thing I did learn though... if you're butt is wet from a) going to BB b) being in that Expedition Everest Challenge wash out, don't put your very wet butt on the toilet seat covers. They will just melt at the touch of that much water.

I do agree with PPs that there really should be personal responsibility on restroom habits. No leaving waste (solid or liquid) on the seat, make sure the toilet actually flushed, pick up something you dropped... seriously, we're not animals.

I respectfully disagree.People have been messy, yes. But it is a complete lack of caring and respect for others and property that has changed.I have personally seen women toss their used personal products on the floor, people leave dirty diapers on sinks etc. I did not say Disney was not at fault. They should be on top of their restrooms. But people also need to be conscientious and respectful enough to clean up after themselves.

:thumbsup2 Perfectly said.

I have always been really impressed with the condition of the Disney restrooms. In fact there was only one exception - on our last trip: DD and I had stopped by the restrooms on the way to Kali River Rapids and they were immaculate. After riding DD was SOAKED (which is to be expected without a poncho) so we returned quickly to the same (or so we thought) restrooms so that I could change her. I had no idea what had happened in half an hour - the placed smelled terrible, was dirty ......! The mystery was quickly solved on our exit when we walked into two big guys coming in! This made me glance at the sign which clearly said "MEN". :rotfl: Good thing no-one was in there at the time. Obviously, being a Mom, I decided against notifying a CM about the apalling state of the place......!:rotfl2:

3 days mid SEPT - fairly busy. Restrooms were all clean and I walked in numerous times to see a person cleaning up. Maybe they have changed the attendant rotation and it depends on the your timing. The parks as a whole were in good shape and clean.

Same here. One bathroom seemed to have problems with a couple of toilets--I think it was the one in Tomorrowland near Merchant of Venus, but otherwise the restrooms were great. It was rare to walk into one and there not be a cm there.

We didnt think any were bad this past June, and I just think people need to learn that even on vacation they can learn how to take 10 seconds and clean up after themselves. Don't pull a roll of TP down the toilet, takes only x amount of squares to do the job.... use a small amount of soap then wash your hands... dont smear it on the mirrors, or the counters, or on each other. :rotfl: I just dont even know why they should have to clean it 24/7.. we don't sit at home and clean our own after every time someone uses it. :lmao:

This is not new. Cleanliness at the parks has been declining for years. The January layoffs only exacerbated an existing problem:mad:

I really have to agree here. We just came back-stayed October 3-12th. It is really awful to see paper towels and garbage sitting on the floor in front of the actual garbage can. I know they also cut back on staff, but there are a lot of little piggies running around. I felt most bathrooms were pretty clear with the exception of some people tinkeling all over the seats and soem garbage laying around.

Its not even just the bathrooms, the counter service places and garbage cans in general. People leave trash on the tables instead of throwing it out. There would be popcorn boxes and napkins on the ground or on rides, it is uncalled for.

I think it's rather ironic that the messes I notice most often seem to be caused by people who were apparently "concerned" about hygene/cleanliness. People leaving seat covers (now wet or dirty) on toilet seats, leaving post-its or tape over the "magic eye" that controls flushing the toilet, and people who have thrown paper towels into the toilet (or on the floor) for whatever reason (paper towels do not belong in the stalls to begin with).

And they're probably the first ones to complain about how messy the restrooms were!

I was there in March, and I noticed one or two restrooms that were less than spotless at high traffic times. Not great on Disney's part, true. But SOMEONE left tissue on the toilet seats; SOMEONE left their baby's dirty diaper on the sink counter; SOMEONE let their child unroll toilet paper and didn't clean it up.

I don't envy people who have the job of cleaning up after so many pigs.

I'm guessing it's a combination of the above. I think in general, throughout the parks on our last visist we notived fewer CM's directing folks all over. like at teh shows there were very few cm's directing folks to fill inthe rows. Without a CM directing them, folks were worse than ever about sitting in the middle of the row they wanted. Even though the PA had said not stopping in rows.

It's simple basic chaos theory - small chaos leads to blatent chaos. Disney needs to be careful about this or teh wole park will quickly fall into disarray.

Overall spotlessness used to be a hallmark of WDW. A dirty park is one thing that WILL cause us to stop going to WDW.

On our trip in August, I saw two of the worst bathrooms I've ever seen at WDW. It was at the Poly. WE were dining. I stopped in at start of meal, and it was so bad, I walked out without using the restroom, and politely reported the mess. I went in near the end of our meal, and nothig had been done; it was worse! but a CM arrived while I was there. I felt bad for her as the place was really terrible by then. I thanked her for cleaning. That's a really tough job!

There is only one of us assigned to 4-5 different restrooms,so it isn't easy to keep up with the flow of guest using them during an 8 hour day.Our toilets can only flush a certain amount of t.p. and seat covers at a time, there are some that throw an ungodly amount of t.p. and numerous seat covers in at once and then flush it!!! On behalf of myself and te rest of the WDW custodial team I apologize for the sometimes dirty bathrooms, but like I said it's not easy keeping them immaculate when you're moving between 4-5 different restrooms .

I am really hoping that we see an upswing in the Ecomony soon (for all of us) but I think that the CMs in the parks that handle these type of jobs could use the extra help...and they deserve it.

To darby01 2007 and HallGirl and any other maintenance CM's out there in DIS land:

Thank you, thank you, thank you for all the hard work you do to keep WDW magical and clean!

I agree that people can be pigs and it's hard to keep up with the mess. In our small office building maybe 12 -15 people use the rest room on this floor, and the cleaning crew is in there three times a week. It only takes one or two slobs to mess it up completely and not pick up after themselves, sometimes within hours of it being cleaned and stocked. I really wonder if they would do this at home too?

We were there oct. 9-13th. Every restroom we went in at every park was clean, smelled good and was air conditioned. No complaints at all.
