Where do you eat your counter meals? Im seriously thinking of cancelling some of the 14 ARs (1/day) I have scheduled for our Aug vacation. Most are repeats. Anyone mostly eat counter now that they have tried alot of the sitdowns? I am planning on a few new restaurants

I am definitely a table service person but do hope you get plenty of answers to your question. I know lots of Disers who prefer counter service and I am sure you will be hearing from them soon on this thread. :)

We are going to the world for 2 wks in july and only have 4 adrs scheduled. We ten to eat more CS and some that we really enjoy are, Yorkshire Fish and Chips(not sure if thats the correct name) Lotus Blossom(Chine), Tusker House(AK), Cosmic Rays or Pecos Bills(MK), Earl of Sandwich(DTD). There are also days when we just cant take CS or TS and snack on fruit, vegetables and healthier foods just to get our bodys back to where they need to be. You can find alot of really good CS out there where it isnt just burgers and hotdogs.

When we got for 11 days/10 nights we usually only do 3 ADRs. We prefer not to overplan. A TS/day would be too much for us.

Our party of ten only have 3 ADRs this time around. At EPCOT we enjoy Lotus Blossom and the French bakery. At MK Casey's Corner is our fave place to eat right before Spectromagic. In MGM there's a place by Honey I shrunk the Kids playground that serves falafels (sp?) or gyros, one or the other, that's pretty good. In AK we always eat at Tusker House.

We normally eat at counter service just because I *hate* loosing valuable park time. On a normal trip we only do the 2 princess breakfasts, or one princess breakfast and Donald's. When we go with family we do the one ADR a day. It drives me crazy knowing that the park is open and I am sitting in a restaurant. Dh is excited about having the DDP this time though because he likes to sit down and take a break. LOL I have to say that I am kinda looking forward to a change. We have 2 kids now and I am tired ;) so I think having ADR's will force me to take at least a little time out of the day to relax and enjoy.

I usually grab a milk and an order of French Fries and I'm off. :thumbsup2

I say if you have that many days in the parks keep your ADR and enjoy yourself. :goodvibes

At the Magic Kingdom Columbia Harbour House

Epcot, almost any counter service is good. The land, Mexico, China, Germany, Morocco.

MGM Backlot express

AK Tusker House

We love these places. If we would just stick to these instead of TS we would sure save lots of Money. They have really good food.

We only do oneTS at WDW-Chef Mickeys on either arrival or departure day. Park days we eat counter service.

When we go to AK or non Disney days we eat offsite at the chains-TGIFridays, APplebees's etc...

We always eat counter service. We like Columbia Harbour House and Pinocchio Village House (can't remember the name for sure it overlook its a small world) at MK. At EPCOT we just found the restaurants in The Land (on the bottom floor). I had a really good sandwich, the kids had a baked chicken leg and mashed potatoes (great to get away from Chicken fingers) and DH had stir fry. The only downside to that place is its hard to find a seat. We also like the fish and chips place, China, Japan, America and the kids like McDonalds counter service. At MGM we like Pizza Planet and ABC Commissary. At AK we like Tusker house, Flame Tree and McDonalds.

Usually one or two TS with the rest of meals being counter service. Will be there next week, will be eating at Cape Mays and ESPN. Clams and Buffalo Wings. Doesn't get much better than that. :cool1:

I enjoy TS, but I also love counter food.

We do the TS, mostly to get some rest in - I have MS and need frequent air-conditioned breaks. A good, sit-down meal is a good excuse to relax. ;)

But counter food is so awesome. You're hungry? Go get some! No ADR's, no worries - just go eat.

hi
only ever do counter service, as said before can't be bothered wasting precious time :goodvibes

We pretty much only do counter service as well. I am just not willing to give up "fun" time to eat TS. This time we are because we have the free dining.

Honestly when we dont have DDP we eat mostly CS with a TS thrown in for the first night, last night and maybe one inbetween..

Another fan of counter service here! Same opinion as others - I just don't want to spend all of our valuable Disney time in a restaurant! We are going this time with the free dining and most of out TS credits will be used for character meals for the kids! But, we only go for a week, where you have two, it's probably nice to sit and relax and you still have plenty of time for seeing and doing everything else! Wow - I can't believe how excited I'm getting for this trip - I'm trying not to wish my summer away!!

Enjoy your trip! (and your meals where ever you end up eating them!!) :thumbsup2

I just got back from a six night stay. For the most part I was a newbie and I was also solo. I had dinner at Boma one night, and the rest of the meals were in my room--cereal, peanut butter sandwiches, or CS. I too did not want to give up valuable park time at TS meals. Heck, three out of the six nights I was running so much that I did not eat until I got back to Pop at the end of the day!

Here is where I ate

El Pirata y Perico at MK--open for lunch I think the hours were 11-3
Tusker House at AK
Beaches & Cream--ok, I know it is officially TS
Earl of Sandwich--i liked it so much, I ate here twice!
Yorkshire County Shop at Epcot

I LOVE TS..but we usually save this for dinner...and we only plan them for about half the nights we are there. After that we either do CS or just go with the flow and try to get in at a TS. We always do CS for lunch so here are some yummy suggestions...

MK
Caseys Corner (YUMMY hotdogs!!!)
Cosmic Rays (great burgers and chicken sandwiches with an amazing toppings bar)

MGM
Toy Story Pizza Planet (for my son..but the pizza's are really good. You can also get a small salad with your pizza)
Backlot express (my favorite. They have a Grilled Turkey & Cheese sandwich with arugula and red peppers that is soooo good. It's served with French fries or baby carrots)

AK
Flame tree bbq. (REALLY good BBQ..and I'm from the south so you know it's gotta be good)

Epcot
Not really impressed with CS here.

Have a great trip!

I much prefer counter service - I'm not a big eater (although you'd think otherwise if you saw me :p ). I like Casey's Corner and the Main Street Bakery in MK and in Epcot, in WS, I like bakeries at Norway and France, the Yorkshire County Fish Shop in UK, and the Tangierene Cafe in Morocco.

Maybe that's why I'm fat...sweet tooth and greasy fried fish!

We have allegies in our group and travel with toddlers. One our last trip, we thought it would be easier eating at TS locations every night. It was a disaster. We have a slew of ADRs this time, but I'd like to drop them all (and probably will within a couple days of arriving). The official "plan" is to pack lunches every day and augment with items from the parks, but I suspect that we'll end up eating CS on about half the days.

We mostly do Cosmic Ray's, Tusker House and Flame Tree. However, we don't go to MGM, and Epcot is just more conducive to afternoon breaks, so we haven't tried most of the CS there.

On my first 3 solo trips, I only ate counter serve. And I don't like hamburgers! Some of the places I ate were-Lotus Blossom, Peco's Bills (great salad w/o chicken), Pinoccio's Village Haus (Figaro Fries and a salad), Pizzafari (love that hot deli sandwich), CHH (Fish), ABC Commissary (Fish), someplace in Tomorrowland (don't remember the name, but I had a big bowl of soup there), Tangerine Cafe, and Boulangerie Pastry (cheese and fruit plate).
