It took 9 days for Disney to waive their ROFR on my contract!

I passed ROFR!!! My broker at GMAC doesn't know why it took so long to get an answer, but Disney faxed her the waiver yesterday! I guess the next step is waiting for closing docs to arrive.

Finally! That is wonderful news! I am so happy for you. Hope I find a contract like that sometime when the timing is right for me!

Honestly I'm not entirely sure.. $2000 for the points plus $390? maybe? I was just happy a contract came up that seemed decently priced. The problem with the small contracts is the closing costs add up, so really I'll be paying just around $100CDN/pt, which I'm ok with.

Hi,
I am new to this forum so please forgive me if I go through some learning pains on how it works.
Anyway way, 2 weeks ago my wife and I decided to take a stab at DVC. We knew someone who was privately selling 220 OKW for 72/pt with 150 banked points, no tax/maint. We did not know how good a deal it was and lost out. We now had the Disney itch and were planning a vacation for October. We felt it made no sense anymore to rent DVC points or pay to stay in a Disney resort .
I googled DVC, came across A TimeShare Broker and called them. Asked Carrie at ATSB if she had anything close to what we found at OKW for $72/pt. She said she had someone at SSR with 220 Pts with 110 banked 2007 who was motivated to sell and to make an offer. SSR was one of our favorite resorts so I asked if they would accept $73/ pt with no tax/maint.(being naive is great)
1 hour later she called me and said they would accept. We signed contracts and Carrie submitted our ROFR to DVC.
I then found this forum and after reviewing what passed and what did not, I thought I probably had little to no shot at getting it through DVC's RoFR.

Well guess what. It just passed . DVC waived. Our contract is for 220 pts/$73 at SSR with all 2008 pts, 110 banked 2007, we pay all closing($550) and $154 for 1 month of taxes(seller agreed to pay all except 1 month). The Estoppel has been submitted and we are now waiting.

What is a typical amount of time to get the estoppel back and go to settlement? Once settlement is done how long before DVC will recognize my points? My broker is saying it can be another 2 weeks for the estoppel and 1 to 2 months for disney to have me in the system. Any ideas on how to shorten this time? Any suggestions much appreciated.

I'm hoping to get a 5 day standard view studio for our next trip for my DFIL and DMIL so the 2BR won't seem so crowded.

We stayed in a 2BR BW view in May for our first stay and it was breathtaking. I expected it to be good but not that good. It is so nice to have the standard option though and you bet we are using it in October. I can't believe what I am getting for less than half of our point contract.

I did not realize the restriction on purchsing from Disney except on site.

If you add another 25when you are there, can you get only AKV and SS or can you get BW? What if you just have to waitlist for them?

I am itching to add more but the college room and board bills are coming up and I need to get past that. I am thinking it would be better to buy just before our use year starts anyway to maximize the deals and minimize the maintenance fee hit.

Good early Christmas present for me as we have a December use year.

Now the question. 1. Are we correct in the statement that the 2007 banked points can not be used until after December of 2008? Something about the rule of 4's? 2. Once we appear in the system registration, may we begin booking reservations for sometime by the end of 2008? We may want to travel in October, but the answer to question one may prevent that until

Sounds like Disney is blowing out the ROFR as fast as they can. We were just informed that our offer was approved by Disney and we now own (after closing really) 120 points at Saratoga Springs with a June use year. It took 3 days for us to pass. We paid $80 per point. 120 '08 points are available, and 09 also available. Seller paying 08 member fees. We are so excited.
