...than O'hana's for dinner???? I do! Am I alone?

Yes, very much. We had the character breakfast at O'Hana. I think we just had a bad experience with the server we were assigned to. She took forever between table visits. We didn't get drinks for about 20 minutes. We asked for extra waffles when she brought the initial serving of food. Only 4 small Mickey waffles came with that serving. I had to ask her twice more before she finally brought them. The food was decent, about what we expected for family style servings. On the plus side though, the character interaction was really good. Stitch was very playful with our DD6 and DD7. He played with their pony tails, tossed sugar packets in their laps, and just generally was mischieviously hilarious. The food filled our bellies and we had fun with the characters, but the poor service kind of jaded our opinion of O'Hana. I wish we would have been able to try O'Hana for dinner for comparison.

We also had breakfast at the Kona Cafe. Our server was great. As we were first-timers there, he spent some time explaining the menu. Delivery of food and beverages was prompt, and the food was much better than O'Hana. I had the Tonga Toast and would highly recommend it. There's also something a little bit more satifying about ordering individual choices from the menu as compared with a one-size-fits-all meal at the family style places.

ME! ME! ME!

Yup, I personally find 'Ohana to be way overrated. It's the sizzler of WDW, imo. You definitely get quantity there for your money, but I wouldn't exactly say you get quality.

Kona's is a bargain for what it is. It reminds me of Roy's (the upscale Hawaiian chain, I think there's one in Orlando somewhere) in some ways. Yummy drinks and desserts!

I love Ohana for the atmosphere but Kona has way better food. JMHO

Add us in, too! The food at Kona was wonderful and great service. We didn't feel rushed and could just enjoy spending time together. The food at Ohana was dry and we felt like we were being rushed out of there. Plus with all the games, etc. going on, my kids didn't eat that well. My DH would love to eat at Kona all the time!

Ooooo! Me! Me! :thumbsup2

I don't dislike 'Ohana, just like Kona Cafe better. The only thing I dislike about 'Ohana is fighting my way through all the 'Ohana guests to check in!

Just returned from a trip on Sunday - tried to get a reservation at 'Ohana's and couldn't get in so we decided to try Kona - what a great treat! Got the beef terriaki (with a pineapple sauce) and it was delicious! :thumbsup2

I'm so glad we tried this - we had a quiet table (two of us) and an excellent server! Also got the apple martini with carmel - terrific! Seemed like a bottomless shaker of martini :teeth: not that I'm complaining :teeth:

I would not hesitate to go there again!

I love Kona!!!! Breakfast, lunch, dinner, dessert, take your pick, I love them all. :cloud9:

My mother thinks Ohana was the best meal we had. Not just on one trip but two different trips. That is why everyone gets to have an opinion. Everyone enjoys different things.

Our family loves Kona Cafe - we wandered into there for a meal on our arrival day during one of our first visits and it has remained a favorite. Great burgers at lunch. Great entrees at dinner. Great desserts anytime!

Hanging my head in Disney shame - we've never eaten at O'Hanas.
