Hi all! I'm doing fundraising for a non-profit charity and thought a great fundraiser would be to raffle off some of my points. I will be looking through my contract, but I wanted to know if anyone remember off-hand what the policy was for this.

I don't see that it would be any different than renting them. And the charity is one that works with Disney on some event too.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Just remember, no tax write-off and you still hold the responsibility for the reservation unless the points happen to go to another DVC member and you do a transfer.

Also, most organizations have no interest in the actual reservations, they'd rather have the cash.

Thanks, I'm not concerned about the tax write off since I donate a lot to this charity out of my own pocket. This year fundraising isn't going as well then I realized that I have a great resource that I could use!

We donated a reservations for a holiday weekend at VGC to our school auction - it seemes to be a huge hit. It is being bundled up with airfare and hoppers and auctioned off as a weekend at Disneyland. We are on the West Coast and so DL is the popular and easy park that everyone likes to visit. Basically, whoever buys the auction item will be staying at VGC as our guests. :) Note: My DH is a tax CPA and so he will make the judgment call as to what portion if any is deductible (likely none of it.) And we booked a specific weekend and are auctioning it of as that weekend. The ressies are already made in our name and we'll just switch it to the winning bidder's names. We are not giving the option of changing the dates.

We did something similar for our DS's private high school fund raiser years ago. We donated 5 nights at WDW (studio, OKW) and specified the time period. Then the school combined them with frequent flyer miles, and we helped to arrange the whole trip. Lots of fun, and it went to a good cause.

Also, if you see my DIS Earth Angel tag, that was a time when a bunch of us here put together points for someone to take a trip who was suffering a life threatening illness. We had points from quite a few people to put together a nice stay. Of course, it was easier then, because there was no 1 transfer per year rule at that time.
