Anyone know Obama's stand on adoption issues?

During my research, I can only find statements from him concerning LGBT adoptions. I'm searching for information about his take on things such as promoting adoption and the adoption tax credit.

Anyone know where I can find this info? If not, who else could I ask?

Anyone know?

This may sway my decision because this is an issue that is very important to us.

Thanks!

Thanks, Laura.

I wasn't able to find the answer searching by keyword. So, I used their site to ask the question.

I hope I receive an answer. :thumbsup2

I'm only able to find info on gay-specific adoptions, too. But yours is a good question!

Barack Obama wants to permantly extend the adoption tax credit (and to be fair, so does McCain).

I have heard Obama discuss adoption and expanding adoption as a viable option for families, but not much more than that on what he would do to support adoption causes. He addresses the needs within the current foster care system much more in depth, with goals to expand training for foster parents, expand facilities caring for these children and education to help them when they age out of the system. On the opposite side, I've heard McCain address adoption from the personal side, and he has a history of supporting legislature that is good for adoptive families, but has not spoken much, if at all about foster children.

Wow! Thanks so much. The adoption tax credit extension would be fantastic. Although we don't ever plan to adopt again ourselves, we are huge adoption advocates and I want that tax credit available to potential adoptive parents for years to come.

Thank you also for raising the point about foster care and what he intends on doing for the system. It does need some work.

I do wish I could hear or read his plans, if any, to support adoption causes. I would like for adoption to be brought up to being the second option most likely to be chosen after the decision whether or not to parent. IMO, it's about educating women about their options. And educating them about adoption. There are so many misconceptions.

And it saddens me to know that many young women, when faced with an unplanned pregnancy, think that there are only two options available to them. And adoption isn't one of them. Not their fault. They just lack the information needed to add that to their list of options!
