Trying to find out how to contact a Amazon Customer service representative in the Unites States! Never thought it would be so hard!
I ordered a book (To the Moon and Back) and it had blank pages and then spanish book inserted, more blank pages, and then the rest of the book the original book:sad2:
I called Amazon and spoke with someone in the Phillipines who couldn't understand the problem. And then decided he couldn't ship me a new book because my address does not contain a real state:confused3 When I explained to him I live on an Air Force Base and the AFB was for the city and AK was for the state of Alaska he was too confused to correst the problem:mad:
Normally I LOVE amazon but right now I am a little frustrated.

Can anyone offer some help:rolleyes1

All you need to do is access your account online and there is a button to click for returns. Follow it from there. Amazon is very easy for returns...no need to phone anyone.

I dont know if it will work for Amazon, but try to get on the 'Spanish speaking' phone line option. I heard those people are 99 percent Americans. Another option I use with paypal is to go on the 'filing a claim' line. It bypasses the basic foreign call center and goes to ppl who have more technical experience in that area and who are Americans. If all else fails , ask to speak with his/her supervisor.

:rotfl2: You don't live in a real state. :rotfl2:

Sorry- I can't help, but I can tell you that the 1 and only time I had to deal with them I had the same problem of not getting someone in the US. I had ordered a lego building plate for my child. It was like 15" by 15". When we got it in the mail it was a lego duplo plate. It was also 15 by 15, but it was for the larger toddler legos. I went round and round trying to explain it was for the bigger legos. He couldn't understand why it wasn't the right size when it was the same size. :rotfl: I don't think he even knew what legos were. I was on the phone 1/2 an hour with him.

I can laugh now, but I feel your pain.

Just keep calling until you find a person you understand. I called last week and the lady was foreign, but she was easy to communicate with.

OMG, DBF had the SAME problem!!! He just kept hanging up and calling back until he got someone who understood what the issue was. In his case he bought me an SD card for my phone, the one we got didn't work, he paid for expediated shipping so I could have for Christmas but it wasn't delivered until the 26th. He did finally get the help he needed and got a refund but it took forever......good luck OP!

When I've had problems, I contact them through the website. Someone invariably responds quickly and their message is always very legible.

It never even occurred to me to call them...

Did you try calling during the business hours in the contiguous U.S.? I've found the earlier you call CS (9-5 EST) at most places, the more likely you will get a U.S. rep, or can be transferred to one. Later in the evening is when you will get "Joe" with a distinctly "overseas" accent ;) as that's daytime over in that part of the world.

I wanted to talk to someone so they could have a heads up about the printing error on this book.

I didn' t use Paypal but I will have to try the "Spanish line" next time!

I really do feel like people forget that Alaska is a state. I think there are alot of Alaskans who would like it to NOT be a state though:rotfl:

I understood him but he did not understand me:scared1: Maybe my accent is bad:idea:

Here is a link to site that shows you how to get to a human. It has one for Amazon.

I like to talk to people to let them know so maybe the problem can be solved before someone else gets a bunk copy.

"Andy" was Filipino. I asked him where he was because he didn't understand why I had a AFB after my city. I called at 2 p.m. my time which is 6 p.m. eastern so I may try a different time tomorrow.

Thanks for all the responses!

I'm asking my husband, but I don't think there are any call centers in the Philipines.

Did you order directly from amazon?

You can let them know of the problem with the book without actually speaking to someone. Or just send a message through their site to get a call back; that can definitely help.

Have you looked up reviews of this book on the site? Has this problem been mentioned before? If so, it's quite possible you won't be able to get a good copy. If not it might be a unique situation.

If you want a replacement, use the option that you received a defective item (or broken, damaged...whatever wording they have nowadays). Let them know you want a replacement.

If it is happening enough, if enough CS reps make a note of it, it'll get looked at.

You might also look up reviews of the book on *other* sites, see if it's a common thing from the publisher!

I wanted to talk to someone so they could have a heads up about the printing error on this book.

If there is a printing error, you might try emailing/contacting the publisher directly. Several hundred of the first batch of Harry Potter 7 had missing pages. The publisher ended up replacing all those copies. So the publisher may know about the printing error already.
