I hate to run to the doctor for every little thing. I have a pain in the top part of my calf that has been getting worse for a week. It hurts to touch it or when I move. It is not red or anything. Heaven knows it is not muscle strain from exercise or anything.;) Does anyone have any experience with phlebitis?

dont worry about it, a shot of Penicillin and you will be out at the bar seen in no time

Go to the doctor - phebitis could potentially be a blood clot - that could move into your heart or lungs.

This is NOT something to play around with.

DVC JEN is right. Please go. My Sister has had 2, and My father 3. Just before Xmas he was in the hospital with a clot that made it to his lungs. He passed out on the street, was rushed in, he is fine now, but still.

Please go. They will check it right away. I hope it is nothing, but you never know..

Let us know:hug:

Please don't wait. If you suspect it's a clot, you should go to the doctor and have it checked out. ESPECIALLY if the sore spot is warm to the touch and/or is redder than the skin surrounding it.

3 clots, 1 DVT (bases loaded, any more strikes and I'm on blood thinners for life)

I had phlebitis, and because it wasn't treated (sp?) on time/ in a good way, it got worse.
In stead of having injections during 10 days, I ended up having a thrombosis in my leg (blood cloth) which meant being many weeks at home from work, medication during months, the risk of getting it in my heart/ lungs/ brain/ ...

Just one thing: I didn't look at your username. In case you are female and planning to still have children, ask your doctor about the medication. the first doctor I went to (a professor in a university hospital) wanted to prescribe me a certain medication, that I had to take during 3 months. The other doctor I went to, said that if I took that particular medication for longer than a couple of weeks, I could forget to EVER have children (75% chance on a very handicapped child - a risk one can't take!)

Definitely go to the doctor. Don't put it off. I nearly died a year ago from a blood clot that made it to my lung. It may be nothing, but why take the chance?
