I would love for our family to do DC, but frankly, I just dont think I can afford it. My DD 11 would love to swim with dolphins if I can find somewhere that is reasonably priced.

I found a place called Marineland in FL. Does anyone know anything about this place?

Any help or suggestions would be appreciated.

I thought Marineland closed a long time ago..I know there's been talk of reopening it to the public, but I didn't think that had happened.

When it was open, they did not have dolphin swims.

I know at Discovery Cove they have that, but not sure if you consider that "reasonably" priced

I can't help you about another place, but are you aware that the price of DC includes 7 days worth of admission to SeaWorld as well?

DC offer so much more than just the dolphin swim. Yes, it's expensive, but given everything that is included, I don't think it's that bad.

Hope you get to swim with the dolphins where ever you end up going :D

Down in the Keys,, on Islamorada, there is 'Theatre of the Seas', who have dolphin swim's, seal swims, and other kewl things as well.

Then in Marathon, the Dolphin Research Center, which is a fantastic place to really learn about dolphins. I have been to both, and they are different expirences, and both less than DC.

Xcaret "park" in Cancun has Dolphin swims and pets that are pretty inexpensive. However, they limit the number so it's first come first sign up as soon as it opens in the morning. Xcaret bills itself as an ecological water park with snorkeling, picnicing, horseback riding, beach and lagoon swimming, Mayan ruins and snorkeling in an underground river. It's a fun day trip if you are in Cancun.

I took my 10 yo DD to DC in January. It was just the two of us, so it was extra special for her...and a lot cheaper than taking the whole family! She did the dolphin swim, and I stayed on the beach taking pictures and video. We saved $$ by my not doing the swim and by not having to buy their expensive video. (We did buy a couple of their pictures.)

We'd like to go back again in a few years and take her siblings. Hopefully by then we'll have more expendible income. But this time it was SUCH an awesome, relaxing, wonderful day for just the two of us.

(BTW, her older brother got a day at Islands of Adventure -- his choice, and her 4yo sister got a Cinderella dinner at GF, so everybody got something special.)

We've been to Xcaret a few times and love it there.

And we are trying DC for the 1st time in November, can't wait.
