Anyone just back? Lovebug report?

I just saw one of the trip reports that say they are arriving, but the person didn't say how bad they were.

I just returned last night, and I think I can officially report Wednesday, 9/19, as the full arrival date.

Starting on the previous Saturday, I was seeing one or two pairs a day. Then on Wednesday, lots of them, but not swarms. There were a whole bunch at the Grand Floridian - particularly the monorail station. (pay more, get more?) And the same day, there were quite a few at Animal Kingdom. (Maybe they like the white buildings at the Floridian?)

The odd thing is that they don't seem to be everywhere at the moment, just certain places - while there were lots at GF and DAK, there were a lot fewer at Magic Kingdom the next day, and not many at all at Epcot. There were enough to notice at Wilderness Lodge, but not many at all at the Boardwalk.

Summary - they're heeeeere, but they've not yet hit in full force.

I arrived at Disney on 9/12 and did not see any lovebugs until yesterday, 9/20. I only saw a few here and there. I am currently at MCO and the windows are covered in the darn things at the terminal. Seems they are here in full force today. I agree that they seem to be in certain places, I saw a few at blizzard beach but none at Epcot yesterday.

I guess anywhere from a couple of weeks, up to a month. That's what the fellow DIS members seem to be saying.;)

Ewwww! Well I hope they are outta there in the next 12 days. I have already had a lovebug infested vacation a couple years ago.

Okay, you folks are not going to like this. I just ran up to the grocery store. When I got out of the car, I was swarmed by lovebugs. There were literally hundreds in the air. This is about a 10 minute drive away from WDW property. Yuck!

Guess I'll putting that bug guard stuff on my bumper for next week. I remember last year when we hit Vero on the way up I swear it was raining love bugs for miles. DD hates them-just hoping they're not continuously bad like they were last year next weekend. They're late this year!:confused3 It is usually earlier in Sept. when they're at their worst, but you can't predict nature!:rolleyes1

Any lovebug updates today ? Leaving on the 29th and hoping they will at least be fewer by then.

Thanks,

DW and I are at the Polynesian right now.

None at the Polynesian
None at the Grand Floridian
None at the Contemporary

10 - 20 mating pairs at the Wildernes Lodge while waiting for the boat
Maybe due to the woods?

Thanks so much for the update. Glad they're not there with you:thumbsup2

So - now I'm wondering - is this typical of how they appear. It seems that they have been appearing for a week now and there are no great numbers.

Is is possible that it's going to be a light year or is this just how they begin ? Seems late for them.

Thanks again !!

Just came back from POP 2 days early, don't get me started on that one. Anyhoo, we saw some but not too many. We saw many more snails and lizards then anything else!!

I just got back last night. We were there 9/15-9/22, on our arrival day the DME driver said that it was his first day to have lovebugs on his windshield... I was certainly nervous when I heard that! However, we saw very few lovebugs during our 8 day stay. The highest concentration was at the Polynesian near the bus stop (probably saw about 5-10 pairs there), we also saw a few in one area near the Animal Kingdom Lodge pool, and a few others scattered here and there... nowhere near the swarms I was fretting.

Just returned home from a trip to Wildwood, Florida a small town off the Florida Turn Pike...very near WDW....."They're Back....." The Lovebugs are very heavy in areas, had family driving to Florida on I-95, I-75, I-10 and we took Hwy 301 & I-75 all the cars looked awful.

Good Luck

I just returned home(Sept 23) after an 8 night stay at WL. We were at all the parks and I only saw a couple of love bugs, none at the resort ( the few I saw were at Animal Kingdom) I was dreading a swarm of them but didn't happen. The weather was great and I found the crowds in the parks light...no big waits for any rides ( although dining was another story...I did have ADR's so not too bad for us) Any questions please feel free to ask.

Just back from the 20-23rd, and we saw very few love bugs in the parks or around the Beach Club. We did, however, have lots on our car from driving down I-75. The worst was from Gainesville to Ocala. We didn't get as many today on the drive home, but I think that was because of all the rain we went in and out of. I was really concerned they would ruin our trip, but we didn't see any that really bothered us. I hope it's a light year for all of you that are going soon.

Any updates on the current love bug situation? We arrive Friday.

We'll be at the parks both Wed and Thurs so I'll post an update!

However, so far this fall, the lovebugs do not seem to be as bad as in the past, including last spring.

Here in Clermont, I saw quite a few Sunday, but this morning I saw only a couple (no pun intended). I work in Ocoee, and there too they have not been as heavy as some seasons.

The season has really just begun, so there is a very good chance we'll see more of them, but at least for right now, they have not been bad at all.

We were there 9/15 to 9/22 and saw a few. They seem to enjoy riding on the bus windows and the kids would always find them and point them out. I saw them out and around other places, too, but not so much to be annoying. I didn't see as many as last year (last year, Triceratops Spin was absolutely covered in them), but I was there slightly later in September last year.
