Anyone interested in Manatees?

Hi there,
I am so glad that those that have gone by to see the manatees - have enjoyed them - Norm and I go by almost everyday and just sit there and watch them - I did find some fire ant hills and I did dust them, but those suckers just pick up and move - it was only a couple of hills, but will keep an eye out for them - I read the information on the beating of that dog and it is so sicking to hear that cruelty is such a big part of the world - when my children were small, every animal they found that they felt needed a home, was brought home and then I had to work with not only a vet, but the newspaper as well to make sure they went into good homes - one time in Key West many years ago, greyhounds were discarded of very cruely - I was fishing with my children and found a female that looked like she had been swimming for hours - got her in the boat, got her to a vet and discovered she had been beaten about the head and thrown off a boat - she survivied and we had her for years - children, animals and the elderly are my focus for all 3 are helpless ---I am off my soap box so will tell all to have a wonderful week and make it a smily one.

My DD (7) is the one who was stung by the fire ants 2 weeks ago. I'm glad to hear Shirley confirm that she saw fire ant hills, because we were never quite sure what it was that got to my DD. She never saw anything. She obviously is allergic to fire ants (which most people wouldn't be) because by the next day her leg was very swollen, and the area around the 2 bites was very red and hard. We visited the ship's doctor and he put her on antibiotics. She is fine now, but her leg still looks kind of bruised. I'm mentioning all this, because for those of you who are unfamiliar with fire ants - watch out! They are very tiny ants that don't look scary at all. Most of the time you don't even notice them. But if you are allergic to them, only a few bites can cause a severe reaction. In spite of all this - seeing the manatees was an incredible experience we'll never forget!
