Lisa, you do amazing work! I am really impressed with your abilities! Love the lady bug cake, its so sweet!

I was watching "Amazing Wedding Cakes" and the girls from Cake Alchemy made a cake with a Beer buttercream icing. Does anyone know a recipe for this? I would love to try it out on a friend's suprise birthday cake!

I have 1 that I use, this was passed along to me from a friend.

Buttercream Dream
1 stick butter (unsalted)
1 stick butter (salted)
1 cup shortening
2lb bag of confectioner's sugar
3 teaspoons clear vanilla extract
5-6 tablespoons of milk (cold)

Cream butter and shortening. Add clear vanilla extract
then add confectioner's sugar. Allow confectioner's
sugar to blend well then add milk. For thinner
consistency, add more than 6 tablespoons of milk.

Have y'all heard of using the Cricut machine to cut out designs for cakes?

Found this at Cake Central.

1/4 cups stout beer, at room temperature, divided
1/2 cup butter, softened
1 (16-oz.) package powdered sugar

Beat softened butter at medium speed with an electric mixer until creamy. Gradually add powdered sugar and 1/4 cup stout beer, beating until blended after each addition. Beat 1 minute or until light and fluffy

I haven’t decorated a cake in a while but I have been obsessed with watching Ace of Cakes for the past few months. So obsessed that I went to Chicago to see Duff and Elena play in their bands. Duff’s record label, Grape Juice Records had their 5th anniversary so to celebrate 8 bands came together and played, including a surprise guest Geof Manthorne who played his first show ever. They were amazing and the cake was amazing so I had to show you guys.

(picture below is of Duff and Geof carrying the cake)

I met Geof, Duff and Elena. They were all super nice and signed my cd. The cake was super delicious too.

I just became a certified Wilton instructor! My first class is October 7th. I'm nervous AND excited!:yay:

Congrats Angelhalo! You'll have to come back and tell us how your first day went!

So last Friday for the first time ever I made a cake with fondant. Not just store bought fondant but home made marshmallow fondant. The recipe was simple...or so I thought. I'm pretty sure everything that could go wrong went wrong but the cake still turned out pretty decent for my first time. The colored flowers are bought fondant but the white was the stuff I made.

it's 120 cupcakes with a 6'' tier on top. Each cupcake had a royal icing henna design, that was sooooo much piping!! My hand hated me for a little bit, and never wanted to see a icing bag again.... but it's not so sore any more and my next cake is in two days....

Hi ladies.

What beautiful cakes you all have made! I can't believe it. I keep wanting to do the Wilton classes, but there is just never time or money to do it. One day.

Anyway I had a question and thought maybe someone here could help.

My mom's birthday is in a few weeks and she absolutely loves Jon Bon Jovi. I'd like to either make a cake, or have one made with his edible image on it. I've called local cake shops but no one is able to do it. Does anyone have any ideas?

Maybe you could try looking on ebay, there alot of edible images for sale there. If you can't find one try asking some of the sellers if they do custom orders, then you could send them the picture you wanted. Or there's probally a website out there that does custom edible images, try doing a search on the internet.
