Oh my goodness! Such talent!! Do you folks do this for a living? With cakes like that, it seems to me you could make a nice hefty sum..:goodvibes

More photos, please? :flower3:

I have taken the first Wilton class and am really enjoying making some simple cakes (Ya'll are just :worship::worship::worship:). I have a hard time icing my cakes really smooth (I use the wilton buttercream recipe). Any ideas?

I am going to try to post a couple of my cakes. I am trying to teach myself how to do it (and belong to some FAB cake sites!)

Last one for tonight... a fun one anyone can do - especially with Thanksgiving coming up! Turkey cake with "cake" stuffing and cupper cakes with peas and carrots on top of the "mashed potatoes" buttercream. These were a hoot to make!

(I don't know how to make these smaller with my photobucket account - I will resize them smaller once I figure the darned thing out)

I'm a cake girl myself!! Of course, with upcoming gastric bypass, I don't know if I will continue much longer, but I'm thinking I'll be ok since I don't eat cake anyways.
I have a site with my cakes, as it's my "hobbyjob" we call it in our house.

I don't know about pollymn (beautiful cakes, btw) but I only do it for family. I enjoy it, but I'm not looking to make money out of it....it's more a labor of love!

The cake I made (pic on page 99 above your post) is with buttercream. After you have it on the cake, I run my spatula under VERY VERY hot water and then gently run around the cake - it melts just the outer shell and makes it smooth. Good luck!

Well, I haven't made any cakes in ages, then all of a sudden, I got an order for this:

And then last night I made this:

I guess it inspired me to decorate more, I will decorate some cookies today:)

Congradtulations Angelhalo!!! Is it difficult to become one? My wilton insructor thought i should try it out, but i had so much going on i didn't even look into it.

Its not difficukt at all and its really fun! You should go for it!

Once your icing crusts to where yu can touch it with your finger without it sticking to your finger, take a VERY smooth no pattern papertowel and lay it on your cake and gently smooth over it with your fingers or with a fondant smoother, then peel the papertowel away. This is what I do to make my buttercream really smooth.

Here's the one I just did for my neice's sweet 16:
