Anyone in here decorate cakes?

Very cool. BTW I never would have imagined you old enough to have a 17 y/o. :)

Oh, I like you, lol:)

I'm only five feet tall, so when I'm with the kids at school, I kind of blend in with them. I did get reprimanded for being in the halls once, lol. I turned around and told the teacher I was very sorry, but I couldn't find my locker, lol. The teacher was a little embarassed, but that's ok,:rotfl:

Good heavens...as I was searching, five hours ago, for the tutorial that I had used before for my cupcake cakes, we lost all internet and phone lines in our office complex. Not just our suite or our building...but the WHOLE complex!! There are about a dozen buildings or so...made for a veeeeeeeeeeeery long afternoon!

So...back to the instructions...check out this website. Whoever did this site did an excellent job with a photo tutorial! It helped me a lot when I was trying to figure out how to do it!

Oh, thank you so much for this website! :thumbsup2 I might try some of those tomorrow.

I made some cookies. I found a great website to get great cookie cutters and she has tutorials too!

So, I did Wedding Cake Cookies:

And I did some Frog Cookies (my daughter loves Frogs):

Today I have to do my sons birthday cake (my baby is 17!!) And that will be the Yoda cake. I think I'm doing another cupcake cake and filling each with a peanut butter mousse.

Wow they turned out great! I bet they tasted good too!

here is my sons birthday cake

Thank you!!! We had a ton left over and I had my son take it to work with him.

I'm in Course 3, Lesson 2
Here is my cake:

She didn't tell me to cut the board to size of the cake.

I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE your cookies!!! I'm thinking about making some and would like to ask what type of frosting recipe did you use? I have a passion with sugar cookies and would like to attempt to try to make some.

Feel free to PM me. Thanks and once again - WONDERFUL JOB:thumbsup2

I need help. I need to know how to get the buttercream to look more smooth when making roses. Mine come out with crinkled edges....

When you get to Course 2, you will learn how to do a rose (Victorian Rose) that has a smooth rounded edge to it. Until then, the roses kind of remind me of cabbages.

You know, I recently read something I thought you ladies might enjoy. When you mix flour and water together, you get glue. Then, you add sugar and eggs and you get cake. Where did the glue go? It's still there. It is what makes the cake stick to a person's rear! LOL! I thought this was pretty funny. Thanks for letting me share!

I just threw this together tonight....we didn't need a cake for anything, I was just bored, lol. I was running out of the green for the top border. So its kind of scrimpy... (is that a word, lol?)

Ok good I thought I was the only one who had cabbages...

I think your roses are fine. My buttercream roses were - and still ARE - terrible! What can you do EXCEPT laugh? I practice but it's the one skill I just don't seem to be improving on. :headache:

I love reading up on all your classes Disneynut. You're enjoyment shines through! :thumbsup2

Awww, thanks Stargrazer! Well I have a class Monday, I skip a week and then my last class will be on the 28th. I am going to the Bahamas!! I was the only one in class so my instructor said we could start a week early. But I still need to make a cake and put it in the freezer for the following Monday. Then I need to get up early and put fondant on. And I still need to finish my fondant roses (I DO NOT like the large fondant roses, they are ugly, I like the medium ones).

And I learn the lily and the other ones you use those deep flower things for this Monday.

May is Fondant and Gumpaste, did you all like that class? It looks a little intimidating.
