Anyone in December getting FP+ and MB

We go 12/14 - 12/21 and just got an email tonight inviting us to be MB testers. Do we need to reserve all our FP+ and finalize ADR's before customizing the MB's? Or will they automatically all link even if we do FP after customizing? Thanks

You can customize your MagicBands as you soon you have the "personalize MagicBands" option appear in your MDE, You don't have to reserve fp+ first. In fact, we had the option to customize MB's about five days before we could do fp+. You don't have to reserve fp+ at all, if you don't want to.

We also go 12/14-12/21 and got our email today. One point of confusion. On the MDE, I completed everything a few weeks ago and it said I had until Nov. 13 to finish customizing the bands. The are all done and waiting to be mailed. The email said I had until Dec. 3 to confirm my address so that the bands could be sent. I am hoping that they mail them 11/13, not 12/3. Don't want to cut things too close!

True, but what I've heard form many different sources and in various forums is that this will continue at least through Jan 5, the new test ending date. I'd predict with 90% certainty that this will be so through Jan 5. After that, who knows but I'd say there's an 80% probability this will continue for resort guests until magicbands are rolled out to non-resort/off-site guests. Disney jcan't just cut off the legacy fastpass system until offsite guests are accommodated and I don't see Disney spending money on any reprogramming of the old fastpass system since it will at some point in time be gotten rid of.

I think basically all offsite people have RFID tickets now if new (or they will be told to convert when they scan in at the gate). Those work with the new RFID FP+ stations in the park I would presume- right?

Assuming so they basically just need to replace all the existing FP dispensers with the new FP+ kiosks. On one hand they probably need 1/3rd since each machine can book you 3 at once, but since it probably takes 3 times as long to navigate all the screens they probably need to do 1:1.

they look to be basically the same size and shape as the existing machines. (almost looks like the slapped a touch screen and mickey head /reader to the front of a FP- machine.

They could probably swap out all the existing FP- with FP+ machines one night when they think it's the right time.

I doubt too that they will do anything before the holidays but there's not really all that much they need to do before they let day guests in on the phone. In fact I'm not really sure at all how they would phase it in. Maybe they could convert to FP+ only at one ride to have day guests test it?

I believe it just says you have until Dec 3 to customize and doesn't mention mailing. From what I understand if you customize by Nov 13 they will mail them to you but if you didn't customize by then you would still have until Dec 3 to customize and they would be at the resort when you check in. If you don't customize by Dec 3 your only option would be the grey ones

Not sure about the difference in dates, but every report I've seen says they arrive via UPS overnight, so shouldn't be any problem getting to you!

I arrive Nov 30 and MDE told me I had until 10/30 to customize my bands.

I received the email a few weeks ago, and like you, it stated in the directions section, that I needed to verify my address by late November (gave a date, but I don't recall exactly...maybe 11/20) to assure shipping of my would be completed.

I just received another email 11/1 letting me know my bands have shipped.

I would ignore the email dates and pay attention to the MDE dates if you want to have them customized and shipped properly.

I was there last year from the 12th through the 19th and everything was pretty much walk on. We went to the show in front of the castle and only had one or two people in front of us when we arrived less than five minutes before the show

I am hoping that 12/14-12/21 is slightly less crowded than the 1st 2 weeks of December which is when we usually visit. I had checked a thread about occupancy levels in DVC for last year and it indicated that this was a less busy week. I was able to switch to a non home resort (BCV) at 7 months and I took that as a good sign. We chose this week because my SIL is graduating from college on Dec 13, so we didn't really have a choice. We are pretty good at zigging when everyone else zags, so I am not too worried.

I didn't realize until we chose avatars that I had two records in there for my dad. On the one record is the lodging for his first night, tickets and all FP+. The second record has his lodging for the remainder of the trip.

Can he just use the 1st MB for the entire trip? Do I need to change the 2nd lodging reservation in MDE? How do I change the people staying in the room? I really don't want to mess with it since we have FP+ for Soarin and TT. I am afraid to change anything for fear we will lose our FP+.

That would be the same advice I would give as well. I cutomized my bands with MDE as you, even though the email was giving me later dates. My arrival date is Nov 29 and I received my MB's via UPS yesterday.

Congrats on getting your bands. Who knows, perhaps our bands will cross at the WL during that week.

I just did my FP+ and it would take me about 4 tries to get everyone on my party to go through as being eligible...anyway I thought BOG, parades and other events were going to be on the FP+? I was hoping for Tinkerbell too.
