Anyone have TourGuideMike and

I like TGM a lot. I was an AP holder as well (let the last one expire because I knew I wasn't getting there again within the year- but will be purchasing my next voucher soon so I can use the new resort booking system), and although I don't get to WDW as often as some do I like to think I know quite a bit about planning for a WDW vacation. I use the UG, Passporter, and various websites as well when planning my trips- all are excellent tools imo.

Although I can't give the specifics, on my last trip there was one last minute tip he put up on his site that was worth the price of the AVP. All of his information is up to date as of this week since he is in the parks most every day. That alone is worth the price of admission to his site, whether you go once or 10 times a year.

I find the responses from posters that go something like "I already knew 90% of the information there" interesting. Anyone that spends lots of time on these boards knows most of the information he is putting out there- for lack of a better term, those of us that are 'expert' in our planning. That 90% is provided to complete the 'big picture' for WDW newbies- and is the same material you are going to find across the board in almost any source you use.

As one of those 'experts', I feel as though I am paying Mike for all the little tips and tricks he provides (that other 10%)- and most of them I have not seen anywhere else.

Although as I mentioned I use a lot of tools (including these boards) to plan my vacations, I spend more time with TGM than any other source :) It is money very well spent imo.

First off, this is NOT an "anti-Mike" post. It's an explaination why TGM might not work for everyone.

TGM is great for a lot of people, especially newbies. They really seem to get their money's worth out of it. I'm glad I tried it, but I'm not likely to use it again. (I tried it because of the many "even experts can gain from it" posts.) We've been to WDW many times and there just wasn't enough useful info for us or the way we vacation. My husband is a serious golfer - there's very little on it. We're DVC members - not much on that, either. Mike likes to get you to the parks early - we don't. We also don't "tour plan" the parks. As for that "extra 10% of tips that even experts need", we already knew about 9% of that.

What Mike does do that's good is teach you how to approach WDW and why things work as they do, and how to get as much out of your time there (enjoyably) as possible. He's VERY good at this. This takes time to learn (it's taken us 28 years). Don't expect an instant itinerary, that's not what Mike's about.

TGM just wasn't our cuppa tea, but it might be right for you.

Is there anywhere that can tell you how to get on Test Drive at 2:00 pm after only waiting for 10 minutes? :confused3 If so, please let me know!!! That is not just TGM who can't tell you how to do that, no one can!

Also, getting to the parks early is what the UG stresses and what I have read from a lot of posters here on DIS.

I tried TGM and I'm not going to tell you what I thought of it. Yes I do have an opinion about the site - a pretty strong opinion as it happens. But I'm not going to share it with you.

You see, I happen to know that TGM readily offers full refunds. No explanation required, ask for a refund and you will recieve it. The implications of this policy really should make any debate on this subject moot. Since there is absolutely no financial risk in trying TGM for yourself, the only thing you risk losing is the time it will take you to look around TGM once you have signed up. If it's not for you, get your money back. Pretty simple folks.

So lets stop this endless argument. Some people like TGM, some don't. I have no idea which group you will fall into. And neither do you, at least until you give it a try yourself. And since we've already established that there is no risk in giving Tour Guide Mike a try, that is exactly what you should do. Make up your own mind. You don't need me battering you over the head with my opinion as long as you have the means to come to your own opinion.

I am actually one of the pro-TGM guys. I have used their servcies in the past, and continue to recommend him to others, whether they be first-timers or "seasoned veterans". Unlike guidebooks, etc., which I still believe are valuable, TGM creates a customized plan based on your individual likes and dislikes, and truly reduces your wait times by considerable amounts.

MossMan,

By far the best reply I have read. This should have been the first reply to the OP and then we would not have 13 pages in this thread. May I have permission to quote you in future threads such as this?
