I've been looking for a top-load non-agitator washer and also need a dryer. I was leaning towards the Cabrio. Just wondered if anyone had one and could tell me if they like the washer/dryer. They seem kind of pricey.

Hi there,
I have the Cabrio washer not the dryer (mine hasn't broken yet but when it does I will replace with a cabrio). I love the washer. It washes 3 loads at once, using a small amount of soap. Husband works outdoors (water services) and comes home filthy. Washer handles it fine everything comes out nice and clean. Some of the cycles (whitest whites takes 71 minutes) are long. The only complaint I have is that I am Really short and the reach to the bottom is a stretch. good luck...ps I bought the floor model at Lowes..they discounted it $300.

We have one too, the floor model at Lowes as well...that's funny. I LOVE it.....it's really saved me a TON in soap and water usage, and paid for itself in the little time I've had it. With 5 kids, I spent half my life doing laundry....thankfully my husband saw this one at Lowes when my other one was on it's last leg and he brought it home.....it's been WONDERFUL.

Sounds like an airplane taking off when it starts spinning though....so not really a quiet washer, but ours in in the garage so it doesn't bother us that much. Oh and just today I noticed a small sound, like a screw or something bouncing around when it started to spin....hopefully it's nothing major, we do have the warranty on it.....I'd hate to lose my Cabrio :)

Just was reading Consumer Reports. To my surprise, they list SIX different Cabrio models. I thought there was just one.

I had both the washer and the dryer for several years 2005-2009 and loved them both. :)

i so wanted a deluxe cabrio but I was gonna loose a cabinet over washer an dryer that I did not want to loose so had to settle for a more traditional washer an dryer.

We purchased the washer & dryer a year ago & we LOVE them!

I think that my favorite thing about the pair is that you do not need to wait for a full load and can wash a few items as needed. My friend has a front loader and she can not do a load of laundry without having "full load." The washer will make an inital spin to gage the amount of clothing that you have and will adjust as needed. The wash cycle will take about 40 plus minutes and since the washer wrings out so much water....the dryer typically takes 20-30 minutes!

I say.....Go for it:thumbsup2:thumbsup2

I have a Cabrio steam dryer. Anything had to be better than the 20 yr old dryer I had previously that took at least 2 cycles to dry anything. If you are looking at the steam dryer, it's only worth it if you're actually going to use the different options. It's very nice to be able to dry delicate things without worrying about them getting ruined. It also has a casual setting (a step above delicate), then a normal one, and a high heat one (think towels). Those are nice features to have. It also has a button to sense dampness (although it will stop if most items are dry, leaving a few items damp). It has a wrinkle guard (tumble after the cycle is over). The steam option allows you to put in a few items to steam out the wrinkles. It works with most, but not all types of fabrics. There is also a quick refresh - if you don't make it to the dryer, it heats up for 15 minutes. I think there's timed options too. Lots of options.

I have the Cabrio washer. I do have a complaint with it. We have a lot of athletic clothes with the strings in them. Shorts and hooded sweatshirts, mostly. The strings get caught around the middle and get wrapped up very tight. It is harder than heck to untangle them. Does anyone have a solution for this problem. I have actually called Whirlpool and spoke with them and they have noted my complaint. Good luck with whatever you choose.

Oh my gosh, I just posted a horrible thread about my Whirlpool Fridge and Freezer. I have no experience with the washer, dryers but a nightmare with these appliances.

I don't have the Cabrio washer, but I do have a different Whirlpool washer. You're right about drawstrings - any strings, ties, or ribbons, really. They do get tangled up. I think it has more to do with the type of washer and how it agitates in a circle. I'm not sure there's anything they can do about it. Maybe those type of things need to be washed on hand wash or delicate. :confused3

My Cabrio doesn't have an agitator in the center. Everytime I wash sheets or blankets when I go to get them out they all look like muffin tops LOL Not sure how it does that, strange....the non-agitator does let things get all twisted up and I think it's rougher on large blankets because of that. Still, I can fit so much more in because of that non-agitator space....so I deal with the twist.
