Anyone have suggestions for sinus problems?

I actually got my netti pot for free. Check their website, I'm not sure if they are still giving them away or not.

Accupuncture is my best friend for a sinus infection too. I wasn't so sure until I did it one time. My eyes started watering and my nose started running within a minute. By the time I left the office, I felt 90% better.

I used to have OMT for my sinuses and it was great. I could feel the drainage after certain techniques. I would love to try accupuncture, but my health insurance and medications are killing me. I can't afford OMT anymore either.

Oh, I feel for you. I had horrible sinus pain for about 2 years. They gave me every antibiotic known to man (which opened up a whole new can of worms - be sure to take pro-biotics if you're taking lots of antibiotics). None of them worked.

What finally did work, was taking plain old over the counter Mucinex to get it drained, while using the neti pot twice a day, and drinking lots and lots of water. Dehydration can wreak havoc on sinuses and most doctors pay no attention to that fact at all.

After taking Mucinex for a month or so, I continued the neti pot (you can use a mild salt solution or plain warm water), and drinking tons of water every day (1/2 your body weight in ounces, so for every 100 lbs, drink 50 oz of water daily). I haven't had a sinus problem in 2 years, and have had no need for antibiotics or Mucinex since then.

About 7 years ago I had cronic sinus infections for about 18 months. The ent tried the antibiotics, spray and everything else. Finally they sent me for a cat scan. It showed that my septum was so deviated that there was no airflow through my right sinus passages. Also my infection was so deep that it wasn't able to drain when the antibiotics were rying to clear it up. I had to have surgery. They did about 5 procedures. One of them was poking holes in the bones of the sinuses so that they could drain easier. There was very little pain with the surgery. The important thing was to keep up with the aftercare with the doctor. I had follow ups for 6 or 12 months. My sister had sinus surgery and didn't do the follow up and it ended up not helping her.
