We're shopping for new applicances for our house we are building and having trouble finding reviews for the fridigaire professional series. Can anyone offer any insight? We were given very good prices yesterday, actually cheaper than on the frigidaire website.

Thanks!

gosh, it depresses me even to respond to this question. . .

we built a house 5 years ago and took the cash option from builder since he would only install low end appliances. I think our credit was something like $350 for range and dishwasher only.

we purchased a Fridgadaire Professional series side by side stainless fridge (can't remember cubic footage at moment but very large)

we purchased a Fridgadaire Professional series gas range also stainless finish.

we purchased a GE profile dishwasher because it matched well enough and it was a great deal.

5 years later,

my fridge's ice maker quit crushing ice a year ago adn now thru the door ice does not work well either. DH has worked on both features and says e will have to replace while unit.

my oven has always been a little off but in the last year has been way off temperture wise and I am very frustrated as it does not seem to be "consistantly" off (like 5 degrees to cool) will have to address this issue soon.

they do both still look great (get compliments all the time when I entertain)

to top it off my GE dishwasher is broke, to expensive to repair so we must replace. looked at reviews on e-pinions and found horrible reviews for the frigidaire dishwasher models!!

so, can't honestly say I would put my money into that brand again although I love the looks of them.

I'm stuck with my oven and fridge for now. and am up in arms about what brand to buy for our next dishwasher. . .none seem to get stellar reviews, even high end.

love to hear others opinions on this. really very frustrated to be 5 years into appliances with these issues.

Viking is not in my budget or I would do it. I have friends who love their appliances. <sigh>

I just got a Frigidaire Professional dual fuel range right before Thanksgiving. I love it! I've wanted a gas cooktop forever. Our old range was harvest gold and 33 years old. The convection oven bakes everything so much faster. I have no complaints. It's really easy to clean the top (I'm a messy cook) and the stainless steel is some special easy to clean stuff. I wish our other stainless appliances were this easy to clean.

Well this is an interesting topic (at least it is to me)
DH worked for Frigidaire factory service for 7 years fixing all major household appliances. He has been in this field for almost 25 yrs now. We do own a Frigidaire refrigerator and have had good luck w/ it. Had Frig. washer (he has repaired several times...parts much cheaper than buying new), replaced Frig. dryer long time ago, replaced Frig. owned dishwasher (couldn't get parts anymore). In general, he will not buy their products anymore. Not pleased w/ design and reliability. He told me no stainless as he is constantly getting complaints from current company's customers about scratches, smudges, high maitenance to keep them looking fresh and clean. DH recommends Whirlpool for general reliability and ease & cost of repairing if needed. He currently works for another co., original poster mentioned and even w/ discount we may not buy when we move next month b/c he's not super satisified w/ their functionality or reliability. Just my 2 cents. Also says steer clear of Maytags-very expensive to repair and not made nearly as well as they used to be.
Good Luck in your decision
FYI..many many Sears products are actually manufactured by Whirlpool first as Sears exclusives, then they can manufacture new features under their own name later. I know this b/c DH worked for Sears factory service for 5+ years.

Its definitely in your interest to visit consumerreports website. You will find that one manufacturer has the best frig (for example)....but the worse dishwasher. Frustrating if you wanted all to match.

I was doing all this research for a new place we were to build...and I was pulling my hair out. I liked the Frigidaire Professional line too. It was that or GE. I've always been a very satisfied Whirlpool person, but I just didn't like the looks of the stuff they had out. Neither did DH.

I really was scared to buy ANYTHING because all I found was stories of failures after such short times. :sad2: :sad2: :sad2:

We ended up not moving...so I didn't have to buy anything. Almost a relief.

They don't make things like they used to.....THAT's for sure.

Thanks - keep the reviews coming. We love comsumer reports, but the funny thing is they do not have a review for the professional line....which worried me.

I've been online for days now trying to get a feel for which dishwasher to buy. the reviews (consumer reports to e-pinions to store appliance help!) are all over the place. ugh. so much money and no good feelings about where to spend it! but I need a dishwasher soon. . .

Fridgidare dishwashers rank pretty low. I have the cooktop and oven and they are fine so far!

I have the dishwasher, range, side-by-side and microwave.

The oven, I swear is slow, but my husband is a licensed inspector and used his temp gauge to prove I was wrong... and I was. It's dead-on. I think it might be the cook. ;)

The dishwasher's top shelf has a tendancy to come loose on one side. I've just learned to unload it before I pull it all the way out.

The fridge and the microwave have been great. No issues yet.

The price was right, since we're only going to be here for another 14 months, and they look great! Let me know if you want to see a pic of them in my kitchen!

Thank you Thank you Thank you!
I was discourged because no one responded, but the appliances were just priced right and I loved the way they looked. I'd love a picture if you don't mind.

I guess I wouldn't go as far as to say that they're the highest-rated appliances out there, but they do the job and look good doing it! :thumbsup2
Our whole kitchen remodel was done on a very tight budget, since we're selling the house in the near future. GE had appliances that looked just like these, but they were twice the cost! :scared1:

My kitchen is impossible to get one full picture of, so here it is from both angles. You can see the appliances, but not full shots of them:

I have the side/side. We pondered 4 months before we bought another refrigerator. I decided I could not do without crushed ice.

We fixed our old whirlpool side/side 3 times and everything worked, except it leaked out of the bottom.

We ended up paying $950 for a 26 cubic ft. We bought it at an appliance store, and we were told they were selling them off because of wharehouse overstock. Otherwise it went for $1600. The sales man through in a 5 year warranty.

When we got it home the ice machine didn't work, so that had to be fully replaced. We keep the freezer at -1 and the refrigerator at 35 degrees. At times I feel some areas in the refrigerator don't keep as cold as some of the other areas. Plus the ice crusher doesn't crush all the ice, I have huge cubes not crushed fill my glass. I'm betting the crusher is next to go.

We got our side-by-side at a Conn's outlet and saved a ton of money. It had a small scratch on the outside, but on the inside, the shelves had fallen (I'm assuming during transport) and gouged out some of the white plastic in the back.

My husband and I were a little put off by that, because I was worried about it losing air, but DH looked at it and decided the holes could be covered by electrical tape. The salesman was so anxious, watching us discuss the holes, that he knocked another $750 off of it.

It was hard for us to keep a straight face, because we knew it hadn't caused any internal damage; it was mainly cosmetic. Sure enough, the original tape is still there and it doesn't lose one degree of temperature.

It was our #1 deal!

Luckily, it works fine.

I'm currently appliance shopping. I just met with a lady at Lowe's who's been in the appliance field since she was a kid.....her Dad has worked in appliances of various sorts for decades.

Anyway, I trust her because she is the top seller of appliances at Lowe's right now in our state. She's no-nonsese and won't even comment on a product if she doesn't like it. Frigidare was the one she just said, "no, I could give you the laundry list, but steer clear." She recommended Bosch for washer and dryer, which I had read up on as a solid choice. For fridges, she recommended Whirlpool. Those were her two cents.

We just finished our kitchen remodel(actually still doing the last of the cosmetic) but we've had our new Frigidaire fridge and stove since the end of November, I think. I really wanted the professional line in the fridge but it would not fit in the space we have so I just have the side by side stainless with black handles. It works fine, so far, but I've not even had it six months yet.

I did get the professional line in the oven. It is like a double oven--the bottom drawer doubles as another oven up to like 500º or something. I do like the oven so far---but have not even used the double part yet.

I'm waiting to purchase the dishwasher. I have a Maytag(was kind of hoping mine would be on the recall, lol--it's white and everything else is stainless) and the handle broke on it the first year we had it. We've looked at them at Lowe's, but we've been burnt on dishwashers before, and with a brand new hardwood floor, I'm terrified.

I dont' guess I"ve helped you at all....but did want to tell you that I am pleased with my Frigidaire purchases so far. I think it is like the poster above said....they sure don't make things like they used to.
