Anyone have an old iPod Nano? If so, read this.

Could it be that they'll replace the problem battery on yours, and send it to me, and send mine to your neighbors, and on and on? Refurb as they go, with some initial refurbed stock onhand to begin the process?

we're also awaiting the packaging -

oddly enough dh wondered the same thing :rotfl2:

and DD has the Gen 1 nano that for some reason would just shut down - dh figured out how to re start the thing, but finally we just bought her another one (and now that I think about it the gen 1 nano we got her was a refurb one - probably from a post here a few years ago!)

so we were going to send it in, not expecting anything - and curious what would come back.

Here is what the email said re: the service fee:

"Apple may charge you a diagnostic fee, including shipping charges, of no more than one hundred ($100) dollars US, plus applicable tax, if Apple inspects your product and determines based on the inspection that the product does not require service. If Apple determines, while inspecting your product, that service is needed due to the failure of parts that are neither supplied by Apple nor Apple-branded, Apple may return the product to you without servicing it, and may charge you the diagnostic fee plus applicable sales tax."

I wonder if they hope this will discourage people from sending their Nanos in... Still planning on sending mine in. Let's see how many of us get charged $100 for this. Fingers crossed.:goodvibes

I filled out the replacement info on November 13th, but have yet to receive the packaging to send my Ipod back. Anyone received theirs yet? I saw that I have to send it back within 10 business days and am getting a bit worried if my package got lost in the mail!

I have one and its eligible. This is awesome because the thing will no longer hold a charge and I can't use it unless its hooked to a power source!

This just made my day!

ETA: I'm moving in two weeks... I hope the shipping packaging gets here in time!

My package arrived earlier this week via Fed Ex next day, you use the same box to return, they even give you a piece of tape to reseal! Label is underneath the one addressed to you, easy peasy. Hope yours arrives soon!

Bumping this back to the top to see if anyone else has received the packaging from Apple to ship the device back in. I received the email about the recall on 11/18, filled out the information online on 11/21, waited 2 weeks then called Apple customer service. They said they were out of the boxes to send to people. Really? I was surprised because I hear such good things about Apple customer service.

I have no clue why they don't just send people prepaid shipping labels so they can send them out themselves. It would be quicker!

I still haven't received my box yet either and it's been almost 3 weeks since I requested it. Did Apple say how long until they get more boxes?
Has anyone that has sent theirs back received their replacement iPod yet? Curious if it is the refurb that it appears it will be.

Hi,
I received the email 12.Nov.
replied to email 12.Nov.
received the box 21.Nov.
returned the device 21.Nov (FedEx)
Apple received the device on 23.Nov and according to the website "issue identified" and Since 23.Nov. "Product replacement pending".

Funny thing is that I believe my device had the battery problem since it stopped working years ago (lucky I kept it in the junk drawer ).
There was definite swelling, It looked "pregnant". However, since it was over a year old when it died, I did nothing until now.
:hippie:

I didn't ask any questions since the customer service guy was less than friendly so don't know when they might get more boxes.

Bumping to see if anyone has had any updates on getting their boxes. I submitted my claim on Nov 23 but have yet to get a box or any updates as to what's going on. Has anyone who has gotten their box gotten the nano back yet? I'm just wondering on the timeline with this once the nano is mailed back

I don't recall when I submitted the form but I just got the box this week. My mom did as well.

I got my box Friday, and submitted the form like Wednesday I think...... Got it all wrapped up to mail out

Now the real fun comes in waiting to see what is returned to us..... wonder if I could use the value to trade in on an iPad LOL!!! :goodvibes:

I just got my box yesterday. I dread thinking how long it will be before the replacement comes. While I don't use it, DD10 was so excited to hear she gets to get a "new" one now.

you should have an email from Apple that says Apple Product Replacement Request with a case number. Mine is dated Nov 12, so right after I replied to their initial request. In the body of the email is a link to the status available online(it's the word online in blue on mine). If I click it give me the actual status, since Nov. 24 it says product replacement pending.

I was on vacation and just saw this today- Mine is covered, so I will be waiting w/ y'all to see what happens- Thanks for posting!

How did you get the box back so fast?! I know it has nothing to do with you, I'm just impatient. When I look up the repair status on the apple website through the apple email it say November 23, 2011: Service requested. It's just driving me nuts!

I think it was like two weeks for my box to arrive. Now I figure they're holding off on all this concentrating on their holiday sales instead. I figure I'll be lucky to get anything before the first of the year.

My email from Apple shows the date of 11/14 so I've been waiting almost a month for a box. Color me less than impressed.
