Anyone have a Sony Alpha Nex-5?

I'm looking for a new camera and would like one that also has very good HD video capabilities. I plan on buying the external mic for the best sound quality as well because we record a lot of live music.

Anyone have one and willing to give me a review?

Also, it is on sale at Best Buy right now for $449. Should I jump on that price or can I do better? The mic runs another $100.

Or, does anyone have a different camera that might meet my needs in the same price range they'd like to recommend?

My current video camera is fine for Disney vacations and everyday use, but not low light and live music. My current digital camera however is on it's way out! So, I'm hoping to solve 2 problems with one purchase.

Hey there! I have this camera and I absolutely LOVE it! I previously had a Nikon D70 which was awesome, but like you mentioned about yours, was a bit outdated and VERY heavy and bulky. I wanted something smaller that I could carry around easily for our family trip to Europe over the summer - the Sony absolutely fit the bill. The camera is very light and the quality of the pictures were awesome.

I purchased a bundle which included the wide angle and every day lens for $650 online @ Cameta. I recently used the camera to shoot a video for work (without the external mic) and it turned out great.

I am hoping that I get the zoom lens for Xmas

Nikon also recently came out with a compact DSLR - not sure how it compares in price. I know when I looked at it, they did not currently offer a zoom lens, which I will definitely need for the upcoming soccer season
