Hi Everyone!

My Husband and I are making our first Walt Disney World trip in 10 days, and we are very very excited! We are staying at the Hilton Homewood Suites located about 1.5 miles away from the MK entrance. has anyone stayed here, or can give me a opinion or review on this hotel? Also, we are from Arizona, so we are used to heat, how much different is the heat when you add in the humidity factor? We at home are in temperatures of about 104 or 105 daily during summer, will the Florida 90 degree weather with 80% humidity be really tough on us, or a peice of cake?

Thanks for all of the wonderful Disney tips and information, I feel really disney educated. We also purchased Tour Guide Mikes online planning guide and I can not wait to put it into play! Our next trip we will stay on disney property, We started all of our vacation planning before we found this incredible site, as well as mousesavers, Tour Guide Mike, and some other great sources of disney info!

If you have any last minute tips or ideas for us please let us know, we are already doing Circue Du Soile (sp?) and booked our fantasmic dinner package at H&V.

Take care,
And were dying to experience the Magic 8/13/03 until 8/19/03!

Hi Brenda! Welcome to the DIS!!!!

You have found the right place to get answers to your questions. Ah, the weather. Well, being used to the same temperatures as you (where do you live? I am in Oro Valley), I do find the humidity a little rough. I sweat a lot more!:D :D It feels heavy compared to our heat. My hair curls up very nice and I don't have alligator skin all the time while there! You should do fine, though! We bring a squeeze breeze to help fight the heat when not inside. Hey, any hot humid day at WDW is still better than the nice mild day in Arizona!!!!

I have not stayed at that hotel, so I can't give you any advice on that. It is pretty easy to get around once you get your bearings. I found it difficult knowing my north, south, east, west without any mountains to help keep me straight as to which direction we were heading. Have a map and you should do fine.

Don't forget to do Illuminations at Epcot! It is great!

Have a fantastic trip! Enjoy the vacation and you will soon find yourselves going back every year! We love it! We would rather head to Florida rather than go to California any day, although it is a tad bit more expensive that route! Have fun!

I certainly don't want to be a pessimist, but in 1996, we stayed there. I was so looking forward to it. I analyzed and researched it for months. Free breakfast, two room suite; just perfect. Well, what they didn't tell me was the entire property would be under a complete renovation the whole time we were there. In fact, workers were in our room after we left in the morning. All of the doors were off the cabinets in the kitchen; yuck. Dirty bandaids in the bathroom, gag. Shower wouldn't drain. Finally, after our third night of this, we came back at 5:30 p.m. to find they had painted the entire second floor landing and we had to literally jump to our room to find it still filthy. When I called they said they couldn't get to it because of the wet landing; DUH!! They were rude and non-concerned. Anyway, we left that night and stayed elsewhere (Radisson) for the rest of our trip. Now for the good part. When I got home and wrote corporate a letter outlining everything that happened, they gave me ALL of my money back. I tried to pay for the breakfast, but they wouldn't hear of it. Manager agreed the entire property should not have been under renovation at the same time. Moral of the story, if they are not under renovation, they might be okay. I still cannot get over all of the things that went wrong on that trip. I only listed a couple to you. Honestly, Radisson next door is alot nicer.

Edited: I just re-read your initial post. They were not owned by Hilton at that time, so it might be a great property now. Please don't let my experience ruin it for you. Yours might be incredible, but I wanted to tell the truth. In fact, when you get back post your review. I am anxious to see if it is better.
