Anyone has used points to go to Tokyo Disneyland and stay at their resorts?

I am in an early planning stage for a trip to Japan in early July of 2007 for a 9-10 day trip. Based on what Mousesavers said, it is extremely hard to get a hotel room at Hotel Miracosta and they tend to be booked as soon as the 6-month booking window is open.

I called MS today to find out how feasible it is to use DVC points to secure a reservation. The advisor said that they need to send in a request in writing or something, and only people there can book the room and they will book it if is available and get back to me when it is booked. She said this is a different booking procedure for these 2 resorts.

While from Mousesavers, it seems that Disney Sea is quite a park to visit. However, when I talk to others, they could not believe a first time visitor to Japan will take out the time to visit Disney!!! They said that there are so many other things to see, why Disney?!!! Haven't you been there enough times in FL?

Anyone has been there? If you used the points for the stay, was it easy to get the dates you wanted?

I used TIVO to copy a program on Disney Sea, I think the travel channel.

If you can find it, it may help you to make your decision.

I would think that a little bit of familiarity is sometimes nice, so if I were to go to Japan again (for business) it's on my list to visit.

I visited Tokyo Disney Resort back in 1997 and am SO ready to return. Tokyo DisneySea is incredible and unique in the world. Don't miss it. It may be true that Tokyo Disneyland is similar to it's US counterparts, but is still worth seeing, especially Winnie the Pooh's Hunny Hunt, which does not compare to anything we have.

We stayed at the Hilton, but if you can get a room at the MiraCosta and can afford it, go for it. It is an amazing hotel.

You should definitely stay a few nights in Tokyo and even take some tours to Mt Fuji or Kyoto if you can. Riding the Shinkansen (bullet train) is awesome.

I plan on staying at Westin Tokyo also. It was nice to see your review. In addition, I was debating between the Sheraton and Miracosta since I am a platinum Starwood member and I would automatically get club level at the Sheraton and can redeem my starwood points for a free stay. But Miracosta looks very appealing!!

On the other hand, I am not sure how much time we will be in the hotel if we do like what you had done for a 3-day pass, and we have 2 kids. So maybe Sheraton will be a more sensible choice.

I will check out Joe's website. I assume that is the Tokyo Joe mentioned on the Mousesavers website.

The Sheraton was very nice as well. We did a little tour of it they day we departed back to the USA. The Sheraton is also a short stroll from the Disney Resort Line's Bayside station.

You should still investigate your options using your DVC points at the MiraCosta and have the Sheraton as your backup.

And yes, the Joe mentioned in the Mousessavers website is one in the same. I got a chance to meet him and he's a great guy.
