for the most part it was just o.k.... they swept, they changed out towels, they made the bed, they dried around the sink. They didn't go above and beyond like I guess I expected at a Disney deluxe resort.

I understand reduce, recycle, reuse, but I don't understand not changing bed sheets for our whole visit. If my daughter had cereal on the bed in the morning, the crumbs were waiting for us inside the made bed that night.

We had a chocolate stain on one of the top comforters, the next night it was still there just wiped away like with a damp cloth.... still a very obvious stain that was even yuckier than how it started. I had to ask the girl the next morning to please change the comforter because it had a chocolate stain on it.

The first night when we came back from the parks, my sister's room had not even been tended to. Its 11 at night and beds are unmade and no clean towels. They had to call mousekeeping with tired kids that needed baths and showers that wanted to go to bed. We let them use our shower, so the kids could get to bed....not good.

Just wondered if I had one of the only bad experiences. I have read the tip debates. I didn't have a rosey, Disney experience....and as I said, ay a deluxe....disappointed.

1. Don't eat cereal in bed. The deluxes all have some sort of arrangement whereby you don't have to eat cereal in bed. Housekeeping has a schedule of things to do on certain days. I think sheets are around day 6 or 7. Was your family also responsible for the chocolate stain on the comforter?

2. If your sister's room didn't have the towels replaced, or beds made, I'm thinking she communicated a desire to postpone/cancel housekeeping for that day. We've stayed onsite 3 times, 4 different resorts, never has housekeeping "skipped" us. I'm not saying it couldn't happen but I think she probably played a role in that mishap. If not, it shouldn't have happened but if she had called housekeeping that night I'm sure they would've sent up towels.

They are supposed to change sheets every 4 days. If you were there longer than that without, you should have called housekeeping from your room and told them. If you had less than 4 nights, the sheets wouldn't be changed.

As to missing your sister's room one day - it can happen anywhere (it's happened to me for 2 days at a non-Disney high-end resort once). Other than calling, like she did, there's not much to do but write it off as a mistake - someone missed the room on their list, or forgot to come back to the room if they had tried once and couldn't clean, etc. It happens.

We have had a horrible Mousekeeping experience. When we arrived, our comforters were wet! NOT DAMP, WET. We requested new, dry comforters and got king sized ones, which were way too big and we were tripping over them. In the same trip we were skipped by Mousekeeping. When we requested that they come to our room, we were told that we couldn't "request them to come at a certain time." I wasn't asking them to come at 8:00 am on the nose. I was asking that they come before 5:00 pm, so we could nap and shower our child before dinner! The staff that I spoke with were very rude!!!! I honestly would have gotten better service at a Motel 6. Finally, after MUCH complaining, the Mousekeeping supervisor arrived and explained to me that it wasn't their responsibilty to "Clean our room" I explained that I wasn't asking for personal maid service, but would like someone to fling me some clean towels and take the dirty ones away. In fact, I had made the beds already. I could go on and on about this VERY poor and thankfully isolated experience, including the hair pins that I found all over the floor that weren't mine or the 2 males that I was traveling with, but, my point in all of this is that you are not alone. Just like any other business, even Disney does mess up!

With regard to your child eating cookies in bed. Mine does too, in hotel rooms. There aren't very many places to eat most of the time.

1. sorry, on vacation... my children can eat ANYTHING they want in bed. They may not at home, but vacation definitely. My husband was responsible for the chocolate stain on the comforter. Have you never spilled anything or soiled anything? What is your point? We were there 5 nights. No change of the sheets... I had a mark I was watching on the sheets. It was there til we left.

2. My sister certainly did NOT say postpone or cancel housekeeping. We were gone the whole day. What sense would that make? Her husband's actual response to me after the initial shock was "Ya know, I am paying for this!". And, no he did not complain. He called very calmly and stated his problem to the staff. They did come up with clean towels, and they made the bed.... woopee!

I think sometimes people think they go above and beyond because they are know as "Mousekeepers" and not maids or housekeepers. To me they are just the same as you would find in any hotel across the country. We've never had exceptional room cleaning, in fact, alot of times they came late and bothered us when we went back to the room for afternoon breaks.

I would have called about the sheets/towels.

yes, but many on these boards act like it is so outstanding service. They budget mousekeeping tips into their trip planning. I have stayed on WDW property 7 times now, and this was my first deluxe experience. I have always had them do just the basics in my room, but nothing exceptional. This time I was just not impressed, and I guess I was expecting more.

1. You can eat food in bed, as it doesn't damage anything :)
2. If you assume... :sad2: Its awesome you've never had that happen consider yourself fortunate:) We got skipped on one of my many trips it wasnt a big deal I didn't play a role at all we were gone ropedrop to EMH PM :) Everyone will have different experiences some have awesome ones some have not so awesome ones... its life... unpredictable and no one gets the exact same experience. I just hope more people can get positive ones. But really you should not assume the OP's friend had a hand in it as you weren't there

OP a trick I learned from the boards was that if you pull off your sheets and put them in the bath tub they get changed. I've tried it and it works...or we left a note for mousekeeping stating we needed sheets changed ahead of schedule and havent had issues.

I think expecting more was your mistake (not blaming you - don't take it that way) - it's not "more" at a deluxe. I have never had poor housekeeping at Disney and I never had what I considering outstanding service either. Just average. And I don't expect any more than that, and have never been disappointed.

The problems you had were problems though - not huge ones, IMO, and fixable (we hope) with a phone call.

We had mediocre maid service at WL. They did change our sheets when we spilled hot chocolate on them, though.
And like other hotels, laundry is minimal. After reading so many stories here and elsewhere, we're mailing a box to the resort with our own comforters. Buying $15 comforters at Walmart that we can leave at end of our vaca. Like any hotel anywhere, comforters RARELY get cleaned. See other posts about black lights in hotel rooms if you want more disgusting details on that. :3dglasses

I've said it before and I'll say it again...

I don't need to be entertained by housekeeping(towel animals), I need my room cleaned!!

That's funny...I tell my kids the opposite...that they are not allowed to be pigs at home so why would they think it's OK anywhere else? :)

Which resort did you trash BTW?

We stay half day in hotel each day and I do not like to find someone cleaning when I am in and out all the time, so I always put do not disturb sign. They do try several times and if I forget to take sign out as we leave to park(happened several times), they leave a plastic bag on a door with new towels, toilet paper and so on. They do not change bedding every day, was ashock for me first time after staying offsite and having bedding changed every single day.

Op: you "marked" the sheets? Seriously?
sounds like you were looking for something to complain about :confused3

I had a mark I was watching on the sheets. It was there til we left.

I'm trying to understand this...it sounds to me like you purposely defaced the sheet to see if they got changed. Is that right? I really hope I'm wrong about this, because intentionally making a mark on hotel property is destruction of property (and I don't care how small it is - it's just wrong).

As for your issues, I think that if you needed fresh sheets you could have just asked for them. And your sister's room getting missed was certainly a slip-up but one that is easily remedied. Fresh towels can be brought up fairly quickly (I've had that situation myself in a non-Disney hotel) and not having the beds made by housekeeping obviously doesn't prevent one from getting in bed and going to sleep.

Love that idea about the walmart comforters!!

Your kids are missing out. When I was a kid it was always fun to curl up with mom and dad with a jiffy pop and watch a movie as a family. I didn't live in a pigpen either. :lmao:
