Op: you "marked" the sheets? Seriously?
sounds like you were looking for something to complain about :confused3

OMG... no I didn't mark the sheets!!!! Thats not what I said! There was a smudge mark on the sheets (from the time we arrived til the time we left). That is the mark that I WATCHED not that CREATED.

It seems you guys are the ones looking for a confrontation. I was just trying to have a discussion, but I am quickly regretting this thread and my participation here.

I'm trying to understand this...it sounds to me like you purposely defaced the sheet to see if they got changed. Is that right? I really hope I'm wrong about this, because intentionally making a mark on hotel property is destruction of property (and I don't care how small it is - it's just wrong).

nope you misuderstood... see post 21

I just returned from Disney yesterday, and mousekeeping was my only complaint from my entire stay. When I was approached at the end of my trip to rate my Disney experience, I felt mousekeeping was not up to par, so to speak. They were NOT friendly at all. I felt so stupid smiling at them, saying hello, and not even getting a friendly response OR a smile back. I mean, I don't know if it was because they couldn't speak English, but everyone understands a smile. I was not happy with mousekeeping at all on this trip.

We have stayed value, mods, deluxe, and concierge deluxe. And all mousekeeping was great for us every trip.

I do want to point out to the OP though...when we stayed at the GF in the royal palm club concierge mousekeeping was NO different than at a value or a moderate! Maybe your expectations were to high, even for a deluxe! Which a lot of folks do expect more, but some things are just the same everywhere else...even Disney.

I'm curious why it's such a big deal to have clean sheets everyday. Do you (general you) change the sheets on your bed at home every day?

I would suggest never buying into DVC because you don't get daily housekeeping unless you request (and pay extra) for it.

Personally, If I wouldn't let my child do something at home (where I am the one doing the cleaning) there is no way I would let them do it in a hotel room where some poor stranger is going to have to clean up their mess. Just because someone else is doing the cleaning I see no reason to purposely make a mess.

Besides, those ladies have to clean up more than just your room. Just imagine how long it would take them if they had to clean up food out of every bed in the place. Most likely a lot of people would end up just like your sister, with their rooms skipped.

I didn't say every day - see OP. I was there 5 nights... sheets not changed.

DVC does not interest me at all so no worries ;)

dry cereal out of a box....really not that big of a deal.... no different than chips out of a bag. You think we "purposely made a mess?" Thats taking it a bit far.

The responses here were first offensive.. now its all just funny. The rudeness on these boards... amazing yet some of the info is helpful. GUess you gotta take the bad with the good.

Oh my, have you ever done a physically difficult job like housekeeping for minimum wage? Were you always happy and chipper? I cleaned offices in college. It was hard, stuff was heavy, people were pigs, and I was just doing it for tuition. The poor mousekeepers are just trying to feed a family, support themselves and such. It is not a magical job.

Per eating in bed, if you don't want crumbs in it, don't eat in it. If you don't eat in bed at home (at which point you are accustomed to greasy, kernally sheets) don't do it elsewhere. My thoughts anyway.

Well since I hate sleeping in crumbs I don't let my kid anywhere near my bed with a bag a chips either. Nor do I let her eat them in her room. Crumbs don't go away, no matter how hard you try to wipe them off the bed there is always some left over to annoy you.

The only way to get rid of them is to change the sheets and Disney shouldn't have to change your sheets daily just because you let your kid make a mess.

Besides if it is no big deal, why are you complaining about it again?

My thought is, if you don't think eating dry cereal out of a box, in a bed is a big deal, then you shouldn't mind sleeping in the crumbs you made.

for the most part it was just o.k.... they swept, they changed out towels, they made the bed, they dried around the sink. They didn't go above and beyond like I guess I expected at a Disney deluxe resort.

Unfortunately, you made a mistake in thinking housekeeping would be better at the Delxue resort than it is elsewhere. It isn't. Houskeeping is housekeeping. It isn't any fancier at the Deluxe resorts than at the Values.

As far as the sheets go, there should have been a card in your room telling you that they don't change the sheets daily. And they do not change the comforter out either. If there was an obvious stain and you needed either your sheets or comforter changed, you need to either let housekeeping know, or yank them off of the bed and pile them up. That seems to be the universal signal for wanting fresh bedding.

I guess I don't get why your sister's family couldn't use the shower in their own room, after housekeeping forgot to clean it. She could have either called down for clean towels, or you could have just handed her some of yours, and then you could have called down. When houskeeping skips a room it shouldn't be more than an annoyance. I don't understand why it made the shower un-usable.

I have to say that I think in the scheme of things the stuff you are complaining about is pretty insignificant.

Just because someone doesn't agree with you, doesn't make them rude. Yes there was a rude comment earlier in the thread but I don't see where I was rude to you.

I didn't call you names or say you trashed the room, I said you made a mess (which you did) and said I wouldn't allow my child to do the same thing.

But it was not "a mess"....that is what I do not like, you saying we made "a mess." They could have brushed off the crumbs or swept the crumbs... at least made an effort. That is my point. Note.... I did NOT say change the sheets here!! I took care of the problem. Everything is o.k.... the rest of our trip was FABULOUS

I won't keep contributing to this thread as it doesn't seem like it will go anywhere good. I think sometimes we need a different perspective for our complaints.

What I don't understand, OP, is why couldn't YOU sweep the crumbs off the bed? My kids don't don't eat in bed. Period. I understand a lot of people do. I don't judge for that. However, if it bothers you, to sit in crumbs, sweep them off. I wouldn't expect housekeeping anywhere to take care of that problem.

For the little effort it would've taken to brush your hand over the sheet, you spent minutes on here complaining about someone else not cleaning your mess.

Well IMO crumbs in the bed and a stain on the comfortable is a mess. Is it a huge mess? No but it is still a mess.

If you can't eat without getting it on the bed, you shouldn't be eating in the bed. Yet again this is only IMO.

I was about to post the exact same post. We think alike.

I would've taken the stained portion of the bedding off, laid in a pile, and left a note to please change. I'm sure it's difficult for housekeeping to keep up with every stain...dlx being no exception.

As far as crumbs, I would've just brushed them off for vacuuming. However, I've had times where a hotel didn't vacuum at all and left the previous day's crumbs all over the floor. A few days worth of crumbs being on the floor is gross. I asked housekeeping to please bring a vacuum. I didn't care if I had to do it myself.

Also, the hotel staff should've acted and treated you in a professional manner, regardless.
