Just wondering if any availability other than BCV or Vera for buying into DVC? I had read where there "might" be some BWV and possibly some VWL available. Also what is current MB offer - is it still $10/point? We're heading down next week and plan to buy then - just wondering what we can expect. Thanks

BWV was available but going fast, just a few points. BCV was 85% sold and Vero is 90% sold. MB is stiill $10 a point. Good luck.:smooth:

I called my guid e last week with the intention of doing a 50 point add-on at BWV. He informed me that he had points available at VWL which is my home resort, so I ended up doing the add-on at VWL just to keep things simple. March use year. I believe they have points at VWL for all use years, but not a lot.

The thing is we would prefer VWL over BCV, but would they have 150 points available and would they offer MB with it. I guess we'll see next week when we go down.

wolfpack - why wait? Call and see, if your seriously interested, get it set up, so when you get there, just sign and be done!!!

I was able to use MB for an add on at VWL this morning. They have a limited number of points left and not for all use years. I would recommend you call and at least get the process started. If you head down next week and decide it is not for you then don't sign the paperwork!

Just like Clarabelle said: call now. what my DW and I did, we called ahead of time ( if you know for sure you are buying ). Made a deposit over the phone with a credit card, and then walked into the office when we were down and finished signing the papers. That also will take less time out of your vacation.
Good luck....I think I hear a W...... H... , soon !!!!!!

I would probably do this except my DW and I are still not 100% if we want VWL or BCV as home resorts. I understand from some other posts that there might be some VWL left. We want to take one last look at both resorts before we decide which one. Now of course it would be a mute point if only BCV is available. We are staying at WL, so will be right by VWL to check it out and will go thru BCV first time we are in Epcot area. We really like the quietness of VWL but Epcot is my favorite park also. Who knows probably won't even be a choice to make. Unfortunately our number one choice is no longer available - HHI. We really wanted HH but I understand the only way to get there is thru resale and I prefer buying straight from DVC for several reasons.

OK, I have to ask... I hope you don't mind....

What are your reasons for not wanting to go resale? We are seriouly looking at buying in the near future, and it seems to me there are some good deals on sold out resorts - such as HH.... and we have not seen much in the way of a downside to the resale route - just the ROFR and a bit of a wait. Would like to know about any other negative aspects.

Timeshare store is listing a HH now, 220 April points at $68 per.
adding my guess of $500 for closing and $812 for 2003 dues, since all this years points are available..... totals at $16272 - or right at $74 a point. Thats the same as the DVC price with MB, but you get to keep this years points! AND you can negotiate the price, dues, or closing costs....

Just a thought!!!

What are your reasons for not wanting to go resale?

For several reasons. First with MB my DVC cost will be $74/point which is not much more than what resales are now, especially after you pay the closing cost on the resale. I know I could do a resale and rent out my first year points, but that isn't a certainty, like MB is. Second, I want to use DVC financing. I know it's not the best financing, but I don't have much home equity availability so I can't do that. I could put it on a credit card, but I've just gone thru a long process of paying off all my credit cards and don't want to accumulate any balances on them. I plan to finance with DVC and then pay it off within 12 months. Plus I'm ready to buy now; I don't want to go thru a long process waiting for DVC to possibly do a ROFR.

That's a key decision. I'd recommend calling and talking to a guide to get some advance informaiton, and even set up an appointment. Good luck.

I saw those $68 points on the timeshare store, but I keep reading the ROFR posts and it looks to me like not much less than $72 is going to get buy Disney. You might get lucky, but then again..... I am doing a resale right now but only because I wanted OKW. If I was doing 100 or more points at anyplace else I would probably go thru Disney right now.

I'm VERY new at this, been looking hard and reading tons of stuff the last month or so..... so my insights may be way off -

Seems to me the $72 ROFR is only at the WDW resorts... it looks like HH is selling a little cheaper, and VB even cheaper than that.

..... and the $72 can be beat, if the deal involves points already used for this year, or worse, even points borrowed from next year..... of course that would not be such a great deal for the buyer either.

I just returned today and made the decision yesterday, with my DH, to start the process of joining. The were currently offering 150 pts automatically - backdating the use year to Feb 2003 or up to $1,500.00 for joining while at Disney. However, for choosing Vero Beach (vs the other Disney World sites) as our Home Resort they were offering both the pts and the credit. That is what we chose as it seemed a much better deal for us. We do not generally plan our vacations 11 months in advance and are not real choosy as to where we stay, so figured that we should be able to find something available when we book. This is all very new to me and I have not really had much of a chance to review all of my information, but am very excited to be joining and feel that it will be a great investment for us as we love to vacation and have stayed at Disney or the surrounding area the last 6 years. I am sure that I will have a lot of questions and look forward to reading the posts here.
