Anyone going July 2009?

For those of you going in July who have never been during this time, I just wanted to issue a small 'heads up' to you. We were there in July in 2007 and 2008 and encountered this 'situation' both times.

This is the time of year in which HUGE Brazillian tour groups visit. They tend to travel in large groups and if you are in the same park as they are that day it can cause some kinks in your plan. They tend to all gather to eat at the same place at the same time which means NO leftover seating for other guests and VERY long waits at counter service locations. (My husband and I stood in line for almost an hour at the ABC Commisary in DHS.) They also tend to send a smaller group to hold a spot in line, while the rest finish up a ride and then they join the line and you end up being 50+ people further back than you were at the start. We talked to a few CMs about this and they didn't seem too concerned about it being a problem.

Please don't get me wrong, I am not trying to 'complain.' I just wanted to give people a heads up as to how these travelers can make certain areas overly crowded during certain times. They will normally camp out along Main Street for Spectro and Wishes about 1-1.5 hours before show time and will sit all over the sidewalks. They cheer and dance very loudly and can tend to 'overtake' the area in which they are waiting.

I truly hope my comments don't rub anyone the wrong way. I just wanted to make you aware of what you may encounter during your stay so you and your family can have a pleasurable experience. Teenagers of ANY nationality can tend to get unruly. I think it's the sheer quantity of teenagers all in one place at one time that can tend to get overwhelming.

Enjoy your trips!!!

Oh I know what your talking about. We saw this first hand, (only one day of our last trip) - thank goodness. The day we were at Animal Kingdom. Longest times we ever waited the whole trip was always when we got stuck behind- said group.

We'll be back for our 4th July :dance3:

I hope the original OP doesn't mind. Just trying to help as many DIS'ers as I can :)

I manage several stroller swaps over on the budget board. I thought I would extend an invitation to you to join the swap. A stroller swap is a group of DISers who will be staying at WDW and would like to use a stroller without paying $31/day for a WDW stroller. A stroller is purchased and passed from one vacationing DISer to the next on the list.

Just booked CBR July 7 - 14 :woohoo::cool1: I'm really excited b/c I thought we wouldn't be going this year but thanks to the 4/3 deal I couldn't resist!

We are going July 11-18 and my daughter is taking her best friend with her, this is her first visit, my daughters 15th birthday is the 9th so we are going to celebrate that while we are there and my DH and I will be celebrating our 18th wedding anniversary as well.....whew....we have alot to celebrate while we are there and I cant think of a better place to do it. I just hope DD friend gets bit by the Disney bug while we are there ,we have taken one other friend in the past and she was not the happiest person while we were there:sad2:

We have only been to Disney in June and July so we really don't mind the heat and crowds since we do not know how things are other times of the year. Besides any time at Disney is better than being at home right :goodvibes

We will be there on the 4th and 5th only. Staying at the CR CL MK view and can't wait. My family always stays at Disney to help celebrate the 4th. See you all there!

I've been doing the 'double digit dance' this week.. as on wednesday we have 99 days til WDW :cheer2:

next friday is ADR day.. wooo! :cool1:

had a 'pre wdw planning party' a couple of weeks ago with DBF's family (who i'm going with in July).. they've never stayed on property before so i'm in charge of planning the most magical vacation ever :wizard:
they were a bit apprehensive to start with... but once the park maps, guide books, mouse ears, goofy's taffy & chip n' dale party mix were all laid out and the disney music was playing.. everyone got into the swing of the planning party! :rotfl:

checked out wdw website too today as the July park hours have been released!

Barbie princess:

We are FINALLY in the double digits today - 99 to go :yay:....I actually just booked the trip a couple of weeks ago but have been planning it for what seems like forever so I am glad to finally be in those double digits :woohoo:
