Anyone going Geocaching this weekend? **NEW CACHERS...POP IN!**

Sounds like you all have been very busy! I always thought that life was supposed to slow down during the winter, not be more hectic! We have been very busy here also. We have had more snow than we usually do, but since I love winter it doesn't bother me. I went out caching for the first time in weeks yesterday and had a great time! We had several finds but ended with a nano on a helicopter that was a DNF for us. GC1H8DA
It is close to my sister sooo...when it warmer I will be back.
We went to Washington DC last month and we were able to grab caches in the area. Since we were on a bus with a group of noncachers we were at the mercy of the group.
This summer we will be traveling to Panama in Central America, so I am already looking at caching possibilites there! Spring is almost here, so lets get some great caching adventures going! Can't wait to hear the tales!

Caching conditions up here in Mass have not been too bad. We've received just enough snow that footprints are assisting with some new hides.
I'm trying to reach 150 before my 1st anniversary of caching. A couple new ones were published yesterday a few miles away, so I hope to check them out tomorrow.
LOLOLOLOL!!!! :lmao: :lmao: :lmao: That is too funny! Thanks for the laugh, BunsenH! :teeth: That's great for winter caching. :teeth:

Hoping you make your goal for your anniversary!

We actually had someone log in on one of our caches yesterday so things must be getting better! We should be up in the 50s today but we have a luncheon at church so we probably will not be getting out. We are looking forward to some caching, though, so maybe we'll get out soon.
Good caching, everyone!

PSA for fellow geocachers.

It's only March, but I got a tick yesterday. :headache: Since it was in the 40's, I was completely covered with clothing. The cache was in the woods, but no real bushwhacking was involved. I saw the tick this morning. It crawled a long way because it was where my leg joins my torso.;)

Be diligent.

The darn ticks! One of the most unpleasant parts of this hobby.

Glad you're warming up a bit in PA, Mike! I'll cross my fingers that you get out caching soon.

I had a few people find two caches in a somewhat water management area today. There was a CITO held there, so it was a great time for those who hadn't been there before to find them. So nice to see actual logs online! :) Possibly a few caches on the agenda for tomorrow. Will have to see how the day goes. One or two are in a really neat area where we've been caching before. Lots of historical information there and a beautiful view! Can't get better than that. Hmmmmmmm...I wonder what the weather forecast is for tomorrow. Will have to look at that.

Happy caching! :magnify:

Hey geocachers,

I'm popping in to too my own horn!

Earlier this month I was vacationing on the island of Anguilla and hid a cache. Because of the distance from my home, the reviewer would not approve it until I provided a local contact who consented to act as a 'guardian' and maintain/remove the cache if necessary. It was published yesterday.

An international hide!

Congratulations!

We haven't been out caching for quite a while but we do hope to get out soon. Today, our DS, his DW and our two DGDs are moving in with us for 2 or 3 months. We don't have a large house so things will get very interesting here for a while. We'll probably need to get out and do some caching! :lmao:
Hopefully, Erin will be allowed to tag along with us.
In other news, our Navy son is being considered for a spot with the Blue Angels! If he gets it, he would be joining them as a Crew Chief for a 3-year tour sometime in the Fall. We're anxiously awaiting word on their decision!
And, our DGS just celebrated his 1st birthday!
Good caching!

That's so neat, BunsenH! A good reason to go on vacation at least every 6 months or so. :teeth: Not found yet...people must be having too many rum punches. ;)

Congratulations!

Mike...Congrats to you, too! Sounds like you will be even busier than you always are. And congratulations to your son in the Navy! Woooo hoooo!!!!! Crossing all fingers, toes, etc., etc., etc. for him. Hoping that being chosen for the Blue Angels will happen for him! Personally, we're a bit disappointed that Langley isn't doing an air show this year. I don't know the reasons, but that was the answer I got from a pretty reliable source. We miss it.

Careful caching out there! There have been a number of posts on the Central VA yahoo board that a cacher was bitten by a snake. I'm thinking that actually happened in northern VA and was relayed to the rest of us. Now a report of a lady in the area who was outside her home sweeping her walkway...bitten by a copperhead I believe. A small one, but just as bad is the report. They're saying it's a bad year (depending how you're looking at it) with lots of snakes. :(

Hope everyone is finding time for caching! We haven't so far. Hoping to in the summer months although I won't be venturing into the woods. LOL. We'll have to get the urbans.

Happy caching! :magnify:

Our DS and his DW finished moving in last night. This will definitely be a challenge but we hope to make it work. The "Blues" should be making their decisions some time this month. We did the Andrews AFB air show (now Joint Base Andrews) a few weeks ago and really enjoyed it.
No time for caching right now; hopefully, soon though.

Has anyone placed a Disney themed cache? I hid one yesterday as a tribute to the sorely missed Adventurer's Club. The container is a camoflaged canteed that they used to serve the Kungaloosh drinks.

Well, still no time for caching here. Plus, it's either been very rainy or up in the 90s every day for the past month or so......too hot and humid to be out and about.
In the Great News Department: Our son is now officially a Blue Angels Selectee! He will be joining them in October to begin training as a Crew Chief for one of the show jets! This will be a 3-year adventure!
That's it for now. Good caching!

:wave2: :teeth:

Hello! It's been a while! I have actually become a Facebook addict. ;) Spending too much time there.

Bunsen...I haven't placed a Disney theme cache, but I have come across a couple. One was all pink and specifically Tinkerbell items. Adorable! No doubt, that was a little girl's cache. I came across another that was just general Disney items. Great ideas! Yours sounds really neat! Have you had many visitors to it yet?

Mike...CONGRATULATIONS to your son! Woooooooooooooo hooooooooooooo!!! I can only imagine how proud you and your wife are of him. AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!   Looking forward to updates as he goes along.

Nothing new here. I agree...it's too hot for caching in the woods. Our last decent search was last November while in NC. Hopefully, we'll find a couple this weekend. Darling son has a lacrosse tournament, so I need to find a couple nearby. :teeth:

Anyone else checking in?

Checking in! Still haven't had any time for caching here; too much house/property stuff to do.
Our son reenlisted in the Navy on Friday down in Annapolis, MD. He will stay at NAF Washington until October and then it's off to the Blue Angels in Pensacola! :woohoo:
That's it for now.
Good caching everyone!

Awesome, Mike! Your son must be excited to start. No caching for us either. It's a lacrosse tournament for darling son this weekend. Last game being played now. Then the 4 hour drive home. :-/ for the drive. :) for the tournament.

He's excited! He also has a lot of technical stuff to learn/memorize between now and the time he reports. Our trip to/from his reenlistment took at least an hour extra each way due to traffic: an accident going down and a toll booth backed up for about 20 miles heading back home. I hope that doesn't happen to you today!
I hope his team does well!

So how did they do? Any updates? :) So sorry about the traffic you hit on your drive. I know around here it's just a daily thing.

A quick geocaching story to share.

I had some expiring credits on Southwest and flew from MA to Baltimore for the day. Four hours in the Inner Harbor area allowed time for 8 cache finds (all nanos! and micros), lunch, and a celebratory beer! It was a fun day and added a new state to my map.

We actually got to do some caching a few weeks ago with our granddaughter, Erin! We found 3 or 4 at one of our favorite parks so she was very happy. :cutie:
In other news, our son reported to the Blue Angels on Thursday! He is still in the checking-in process but he has received his uniforms and gear and he has found another newbie to share an apartment with. There's a lot of training ahead but I know he's up to the challenge! :thumbsup2

How are my fellow geocachers coping with this wintry Winter?

Fortunately, local cachers have been placing some winter friendly hides to give a a fix now and then. :thumbsup2 I think that snow piles will be a factor here until at least April 1st.
