Just curious since I am very sensitive to motion sickness but really want to try this new ride. How is everyone else doing with it?

My husband has the same question. My thought is that since your actual movement is minimal, this is a good attraction for closing your eyes to alleviate any motion problems. He's going to try it!

I am not typically prone to motion sickness, and I have to say I felt some butterflies in my belly. The actual motion really is minimal, though, so the closing eyes might help ... but since the whole point is to see the film, it might defeat the purpose. If there's a really long wait, I'd probably skip it. If a short wait, I'd give it a try and try really hard not to close your eyes.

Have fun! It is pretty cool. My dd4 kept lifting up her legs when we "flew" down low.

I get motion sickness easily, and I definitely did not feel any of that on Soarin, not even close. I did get a little of that vertigo feeling, but that was fun. It's a wonderful ride! :)

We loved Soarin while we were in Disneyland. I didn't experience any motion sickness and Star Tours absolutely makes me sick. I felt a sense of height and flying however, and I enjoyed it.

My Dad is very prone to get motion sickness, but he still rode Soarin'. He had no problems. He was glad that he didn't let me talk him out of it. pirate:

I had to close my eyes when we "banked" to the right or left, but when we went straight, it was fine. When I did close my eyes, no queesiness stayed with me. Try it once. It isn't a long ride.

The only time I felt woozey was the night time over LA scene. I think it was the lighting. I'm extreamly sensitive to lighting changes, it causes me to be nauseated, but Soarin wasn't a problem at all....Dinosaur on the other hand....hand me a baggie!

We rode it twice - I should also add that I am prone to motion sickness and almost lost it on Mission Space last year - and I was absolutely fine when we were in Row 3 (which ends up on the bottom) and I did really great the second time when we were in Row 1 until, like the previous poster, the nighttime scene over LA. Then the queasiness set in fiercely.

It is a magnificent ride and I highly recommend it...but try to get in rows 2 or 3. And the LA scene is towards the end so I was just fine (although my jaw was dropped in awe) for the majority.

ENJOY!!!!

I think the problem with that L.A. scene is that it's artificially "sped up," so the motion on the film is faster and a bit jerkier than normal. This part gets to me a bit too, but it's certainly nothing to keep me off the ride! :cool1:

I get a little motion sick. I did fine. When I found myself getting queasy, just find a spot directly in front of you and stare. It's an awesome ride.

I was just there and rode it. It was great, I didn't feel anything. (If you do just look to the side or close your eyes). My mother was with me and before I rode it I asked about people getting sick. They said when they were testing it and allowing people to ride before the official opening, a 104 year young woman rode it and afterwords asked if she could ride again, which they did. She loved it.

Glad to hear all of this! I get motion sickness too but REALLY want to ride this when we go next month, and I am so happy to hear that it shouldn't cause me much of a problem (besides explaining to DS3 that his is too little to ride :earboy2: ).

I was a little worried about this too... I have a really hard time handling Mission Space - it usually is all I can do not to lose it :crazy2: I was worried that I might have a hard time with this ride - glad to hear I should be fine!

My mom is extremley motion sickness. We did soarings and she was fine and loved it. she didnt even get a bit sick on the ride :wave2: :cool1: . Its Awesome so ! suggest you try it or you will be missing out. :cool1:

I was concerned about the exact same thing, but had no problems at all on it. I can't do rides like Dumbo, the tea cups and things like that where you go around and around. I also can't ride on the trains or monorails if I'm sitting backwards. Soarin was perfectly fine though

I don't want to spoil the ride, but can i ask, is this ride a film show or is it like a roller coaster? :confused3

Thanks
