Anyone Game? It’s my Sep 2013 Blog! I'm home; with a TR link in #1189, 10/14

DH had gone to bed early.

DS had been totally scared from the thunder and lightning and had gotten out of bed. I suggested he join me in the living room and we went to sit on the couch. That's when I felt it fluttering against my leg.

The moth then kinda flew up a little and landed on his hand.

So, there we were.....both of us freaking out in the living room.

How DH slept through the noise is beyond me. :lmao:

Sounds like another Mom and Son adventure that will live a long time.... You guys will be talking about it for awhile!

I'm looking forward to it too. The bittersweet part is that it is one of the last parts of all our fun together. This time. :thumbsup2 I'm sure there will be more.

I am feeling this same way and even though Fred (DH) & I will be at MNSSHP with PIO & family and I'm having breakfast with them too along with Bobbi & her sister I am wondering WHERE is the time spent with you & Fran ?? :( I was hoping there would be some time to spend together

I would have been shrieking and screaming, moths freak me out big time!

I'm glad it wasn't quite as traumatic for you.

Fran and I will be there at that breakfast too, if you're meaning the one at Cape May. In addition we have the cookout on Saturday.

The Start of Winter DisMeet

The start of winter…..and it was a rainy day in Melbourne.

And it just felt like that with the start of winter, everything had that serious note about it.

It was just the day for another Melbourne DisMeet. The usual suspects were there….except for Zanzibar (We missed you!).

Our….er….my choice for the meet was a Vietnamese Pho shop in town. It isn’t an upmarket establishment; rather more a Cheap Eats place. With the rain, it was the perfect day for some noodles.

Whilst we were contemplating our options, we had some Vietnamese spring rolls to share. You have to dip the spring roll into the dipping sauce and wrap it in the lettuce before eating.

Two of us had the Rare Beef Pho. Surprisingly, the picture shows the beef more rare than it actually was. And by the time we mixed it into the steaming hot soup, the beef was just about cooked through. The broth had a pretty full bodied-taste to it.

One of us had the BBQ pork soup noodles.

And the last person in the party decided on a soup-less dish.

After lunch, we wandered to one of the laneways that Melbourne is famous for to get coffee and dessert.

After some debate, we decided on churros.

I think NOT. The churros were crunchy on the inside and crusty on the outside. It was a bust. We will NOT be back to this place again.
I'm going to need to find another churros place to get the taste of decent churros back in the memory banks!

We never got round to taking a picture of us. Afterall, these meets are more like catching up with girlfriends now; rather than DisMeets with comparative strangers.

Looks like fun...

Sorry the churro s were not pleasant.

That is one of the items I am looking forward to in Madrid. Chocolate churros....

Friends indeed.

I hope you don't forget about us locals when you take your DISmeets global :lmao:

I need to get caught back up, but I wanted to tell you that I made the feta & pesto topped/stuffed mushroom caps as an appetizer on Sunday night and they were so easy and delicious! I ate the last one for breakfast this morning with a poached egg on top, which was an amazing combination of flavors. Thank you so much for posting the instructions for those, they'll be a new favorite in our household!

Here's hoping you get much better churros than we did. :goodvibes

I consider myself a citizen of the world. Everyone is a local! Besides, there are no boundaries on the internet. ::yes::

So glad you tried it and liked it. It's a favourite in our household too.

I'll have to try it with a poached egg on top. Thanks for the tip. :thumbsup2

Yum, yum, yum! The food looks fabulous. Love that Buzz mural.

There are 3 or 4 laneways in Melbourne that are dedicated for street art aka graffiti. You need to get a permit from the City Council before you can legitimately spray paint in those laneways. But the upshot is that we get fantastic street art every other month or so.
I try to walk down those laneways every 2 - 3 months.

Yay for another successful Dismeet.
That soup looks delicious.

It sure was! Here's to our own successful DisMeet in October. :thumbsup2

The food loked good. I imagine the company was equally as fun especially since you forgot to tke a picture.

The mushrooms look delish and I would have been running around like a crazy woman if the moth flew on me.

Absolutely! All....except the churros.

We actually managed to work out what moth it was. DS told me he saw some yellow wings on the moth. And then a couple of days later, there was a picture of the endangered Golden Sun Moth in the newspaper. DS said it looked exactly like that.

I was really sad to find out it was an endangered moth. :sad1:
