Anyone Game? 2 Castles and a Road Trip TR! Last Day and TR Wrap Up! #2796; 10/01

I still have the rest of today.....and then another 4 days to cover. ;)

I've come to the last day at WDW. I still have 4 days to cover on this never-ending TR. :faint:

Thanks Ruthie. I'm not quite at the end yet. ;)
I still have to finish up this last full day at WDW.....and there's still another 4 days to cover. I'm hoping to finish by September. :lmao:

We were definitely ready to go home by the time we got back to LA.

Thanks.

Oh good I hate to put this "book" down :goodvibes

Great penultimate post PIO. Love the photos of SAB. It looks fab we are staying in the fall :-) can't wait. I just adore lazy rivers! That is very much our retirement plan with the lion share being DVC :-) maybe some Marriott. Sweet life meet you on the road in our RV's! Golden girls!

The DIS met and cookout looks like it was a bunch of fun and relaxing for sure.

The resort is one of my favorites... and the pictures both day and night bring back lots of fun memories... Thanks for the memories..

Awww, I can't believe it's coming to an end :( I think I may seriously go through withdrawal.

I've been working so hard at trying to keep the memories of our trip alive as much as I can. I'm just hoping it's not another 18 years before DH and I make it back to the magic.

I'm glad you had such a wonderful trip. Boardwalk is one my want-to-stay list. It always looks like such a lively resort. But then again, the Beach Club just looks really relaxing.

I think your current camera is a point and shoot? You will need to find out what the smallest aperture setting the camera can go to. You'll need at least f/16 for the twinkly lights and I'm not sure the point and shoots go to that setting.

I've come to the last day at WDW. I still have 4 days to cover on this never-ending TR. :faint:

I still haven't quite figured out the whole aperture priority and shutter speed priority on my camera. It doesn't seem to work for me, or perhaps it's just being too clever and deciding for itself that I've set it too slow. I'll have to check out how small it goes.

I forgot you had another stopover on the way back :rotfl: Glad it's not quite the end :thumbsup2

All this talk of tri tip has got me curious. I just assumed it was a US only thing until you said you'd think of the trip every time you had it. Can we get it in Australia? What is it?

I'm kicking myself for not making time to see this parade :( but i'm so glad that you got so many amazing pictures to keep. Thanks for sharing those.

Ugh your rice looks AMAZING! I really am going to have to look for that sauce. I'll probably have to get it off Amazon. But since DS really enjoys shrimp, i'm sure he'll love this!

That night was so much fun and I had so much fun chit chatting with you :goodvibes Hopefully there will be another DIS Dinner someday so I can contribute to the yummy-ness:)

Wow that's such a great retirement plan. That would be awesome!

I can't believe this TR is almost over :worried:

I'm hoping to have it complete September'ish.

Thanks Paula. Great retirement plan! :thumbsup2

Meet you in Yellowstone with our respective RV's. LOL.

Wish you could have been there for the DisMeet, Brandi. :goodvibes

It's not quite over yet. I still have 4 days to write up about.

I'm trying to keep hold of the memories as well. But it's getting harder as time passes on by. :(

If you ask the butcher, most of them will look at you funny. It's usually cut up and included in Rump. But I think I saw it at Costco.

I had a great time chatting with you and everyone else as well. I wished we had more time to talk some more. Maybe next time.

I hope you find the kecap manis.

Lovely night and morning shots around SAB and Boardwalk.

Thanks Angela. :flower3:

Food and Wine (and Epcot) Food Porn

Conventional DisWisdom will say to avoid Epcot at the weekends during Food and Wine. And it was Sunday.
But we were hungry and from the BCV, Food and Wine (and Epcot) beckoned.

Don't be fooled by the pictures. It was busy in here; but not unbearably so.

I led the boys here.

I had enjoyed the spicy lamb ball and figured DS and I could share one.

And there was the other item on the menu that I was keen to check out. The mussels were really good as well.

DS asked for a favourite dish, so we headed here next.

From DH's camera, the queues weren't that bad, were they?

DS did NOT share this at all.

But we did share the California Rolls. Freshly made, but it was not significantly better than the standard sushi you would find in your local area.

We grabbed that free bench to sit and eat.

We were definitely Eating to the Beat here. Although, I'm pretty sure this is not the beat that Disney had in mind.

DS was still hungry and by this stage, he'd figured out what the benefits of Food and Wine truly were. He picked the next booth.

Anyone know which dish caught his eye?

He didn't share this either so I have no idea whether it was any good or not.

Something to wash it all down with.

We needed to get two!

So for those wondering about the crowds.....

.....and given we were here.....

.....I went in search of Jasmine and Aladdin in the hopes that they were there for a meet and greet. No such luck! The lights were definitely out!

My list of to-do's was piling up should there be a return trip in the distant future.

Last night at the Cookout DisMeet, I overheard Alison talking about this booth.

Waffle Heaven!

We were completely fooled by the Potato and Leek Waffle. In our rush to get our Blissful Bites, neither DH nor I read the fine print. We worked out too late it had meat in it. It was delicious so I didn't mind that DH didn't want to share. DS and I wolfed it down.

The chocolate delight didn't last long. There was a fight between the 3 of us for the last bite.

But my favourite of the trio was the Berry Waffle. I've always been a sucker for a tart. :rolleyes1

Happy days indeed at Belgium!

France was our next destination.

In 2010, Disney Firefly and I sampled some of the delights at the French booth and were less than impressed with it. I was keen to avoid a repeat.
And I did have an alternative destination in mind to the Food and Wine booth.

The Boulangerie had moved from when I was last here in 2010. It was definitely time to take a look and check it out.

The display cabinets were brimming over with delightful items.

The crème brulee is definitely better in here compared to the French Booth outside.

And I couldn't resist another tarty delight!

So.....what's opened in the old space that the Boulangerie previously occupied?

Next time....I need to get some glace and macaroons!

Time was moving on and we needed to fly.

This time, it was DH's choice.

His complaint about Food and Wine was that there were only sweet things and wine on the menus. I did remind him that was the point of Food and WINE. But I guess he was still hungry. He wanted something savoury.

I got one spoonful in. DH was NOT sharing.

DS wasn't amused either.

Just as well DS and I got something else to enjoy.

Nice.....but I do miss the old chocolate lava cake from Ireland.

Don't get me wrong this warm chocolate pudding was a good trade up. I just have some happy memories tied in to the chocolate lava cake.

We really needed to get a move on today. The thing about Epcot is that there are so many little nooks and crannies, filled with wonderful details to enjoy.

I had to stop at one last detour. Turns out this was to be my only taste of Dole on this trip. I really wish it was the pineapple variety instead of orange; but beggars can't be choosers.

Our Last Park Icon Pictures - Epcot Ball

One of the things that I enjoy most about staying at an Epcot Resort is that you can enter Epcot via the International Gateway. It's nice and convenient; and the crowds here are usually much less than at the main gate. But the negative side to it is that you do miss out on the main view of the Epcot Ball.

So, I was conscious that this was going to be my last opportunity to grab the main gate view of that park icon. It's the last icon for me to photograph.

We did approach it with the aim of heading out of Epcot.

Sadly, neither of the boys were keen to ride Spaceship Earth. I did try to convince them but as I was anxious about time, I didn't push it either.

Instead, I kept focus on the main goal.

It's an interesting elongated perspective, isn't it?

Mission almost complete.

I was on the lookout for something. And I found that something....or someone....out here.

Our final park icon Photopass pictures.

Definitely time to keep going. We had a party to get to!

I'm so sad to be missing F&W this year! I love snacking around the world.

Great animal pics.
Looked like a great time.
Great pics on Everest.
Very nice pics of FOTLK.
Love Yak & Yeti. Nice place to sit.
Nice pics of the animals.
Great pics of the parade. We skipped it in December and now regret it.
The fried rice looks good.
What a nice area for a get together. My meat would have gone back on to. LOl.
Nice pics walking around Boardwalk.
Nice pics around the resort. I love SAB and the sandy bottom.
The crowds for F&W didn’t look too bad.
The waffles look good.
I am so hungry from all the food pics.
Nice pics of Spaceship Earth.
I am all caught up again.

I am surprised that it was not too busy on a Sunday. You managed to sample a lot of different food..

Corinna

You forgot to put a warning on that post :rotfl:

All that food looks so delicious, especially the waffles! And I disagree with your DH. Just on the photos of signs that you've posted, I've seen plenty of savoury options.

A very nice day at EPCOT where you are able to try a lot of different stands during the F&W Festival. I enjoyed my time during the F&W Festival a couple of years ago and after seeing your pictures, I really want to go back in the near future.

Very nice updates.

Weren't those waffles just wonderful? I'm glad you got to try them. I still liked the chocolate pudding. You got some of the better options, at least as far as I was concerned.

The Chicken Harissa Roll wasn't that great, it was good, but I liked the beef kefta better. The Lobster Fisherman's pie tasted "off" to me this year.

I can't believe you guys went directly to the party after that without a nap!

Now my screen is all messed up, I'm drooling over all the great food choices.:rotfl2:

You managed to get some really nice family photos on this trip.:thumbsup2

Oh yummy food porn! Love macaroons they should be their own food group :-) my favourite is lemon. Agreed the berry waffle is just superb! Yum mussels! Love the F & W :-)

Great photos of EPCOT I love the Golf ball too :-)
