Anyone Game? 2 Castles and a Road Trip TR! Last Day and TR Wrap Up! #2796; 10/01

You get such good inside/dark shots!!!

I wish they would take out the Lights, Action, Camera, the Backlot Tour and the Streets of America sections of HS and put in a Carsland!!!!!

Lol no way re Star Tours as soon as you said TSMM had gone fishing and you were heading for Star Tours I thought it would be so funny if PIO got the same sequence again...

What are the odds! I still haven't been rebel spy!

Great update :-)

We had that happen to us once in 2010. We went over to DHS for AM EMH just to ride TSMM, and we arrived and it was DOWN. We were NOT happy campers. We debated what to do, and in the end decided to wait it out a little bit, they reopened after about 15 minutes fortunately. That ride is a family favorite as we try to ride it on opening and also with a FP each trip.

Too funny that you kept seeing the same sequences. It took us quite a few tries before we had seen them all.

Very nice pictures from DHS. All of your family pictures look very nice. Sorry to hear that TSMM was not running that morning. Even though I do like to ride TSMM at DCA, I would not even think about waiting in that huge line at DHS unless I get a FP/+ for that ride.

Nice pictures from the Streets of America and from some of the pictures that some of the lights for the Osborne Family Spectacle of Dancing Lights are up. It was nice to see you able to go on Star Tours that day.

Great updates.

What a shame that Toy Story Mania was down. I so love that ride. I can't believe that you got the same combination of elements again on Startours.

Corinna

How disappointing that TSM was down. I have a feeling it didn't go smoothly when you tried to ride again...

I can't believe you got the same sequence on Star Tours :rotfl:

And is it really the last year for the lights? I was looking forward to seeing that one day!

The updates are full of wonderful commentary, the pictures are breathtaking, and the food is making me hungry!

Thanks, Brandi.

That's a lot of real estate there. I'm not sure I would put a Carsland in. I really like that land out west. Perhaps a Star Wars area would be my preference.

I couldn't believe it. Neither could my DS!!! :rotfl:

Thanks.

It's funny. I kinda expect it when we go to DCA and try to hit Radiator Springs Racer; but I just don't expect it of TSM. But it was interesting to see how the CM dealt with the MB.

It's funny how popular it is at DHS and the length of the lines compared to DCA. I guess it's a measure of how few headline rides there are at DHS.

I saw the lights being put up and wished I could see them all lit up. Maybe someday.

I really don't believe that there are any different combinations for that Star Tours ride. :lmao:

I believe the lights are moving to DTD. I did see some threads about it but haven't yet caught up to see if it's been confirmed or not.

Did I forget to comment again? :rotfl:

I can't believe that after all that food you could ride thrill rides! Sorry TSMM was down. I'm not sure if you told me that later. And I still don't believe it that you've gotten the same scenes every time. You'll just need to come back here and do it again.

We went back to the room and slept. Well Fran did. Eventually I went down to SAB for a swim.

I feel the same as you on Hollywood Studios. Can't quite work out that empty space. I'm the only one who likes TSMM in my house and they all go on begrudgingly once a trip to appease me. Stars Wars Land there would indeed be excellent. Loving the ride.

Star Tours isn't that bad. I figured we were fine for that one and left RnRC for later. Yes, I'd love a return visit to DLR. :teeth:

In hindsight, we could have been quite happy to have a quiet morning as well. But it was probably best that we got DHS ticked off.

No one else in your house likes TSMM?? :faint:

At least DS will quite happily go round and round on that ride with me.

:wave2: Just stopping by to say " Hi, I'm alive, catching up with reading along and rumor of Spectacle of Lights moving to Disney Springs ( think that's the new name ) still not confirmed ) "

Not too bad except yesterday & today this rain will just not let up :sad2: I don't know what's worst smelly rained on dogs or body pain

Then I think about 2 dear friends who are at WDW right now and I think at least I'm dry and not slopping around in puddles over there which I understand is a mad house with MDE crashing 7 dwarves opening A & E meet & greet stampedes...nah I'm good right here :coffee: :lmao:

I think you're definitely good where you are too. :flower3:

The One about My Disney Experience

In planning this trip, I had decided that I needed to learn to play with MDE and work out for myself whether I would love or hate the new system.

Chinese needle torture would have been kinder; but I persevered with it.

After navigating my way around the extremely user unfriendly site and working out how to thread my way through that Chinese torture needle, I decided that I probably should put my Dis skills to full use and plan the heck out of one day. That was just as much fun as I could stand on this site.

After considering my schedule, I chose to plan this day out fully on MDE. Afterall, between the FP+, the shows and my ADRs, this day could end up Herbie Fully Loaded and completely DIS-organised. So I did invest a bit of time defining and refining my order of events of the DHS day. Afterall, there were quite a number of parameters to consider in the planning i.e., which direction to walk, what time I expected to get to the park, rides to do, show times, ADR times etc.

Here's what my day looked like in MDE.

Yup. All that time planning and changing and DIS-organising on that site.....and the output was still mostly all black and white. You'd think they would find a way to add some Disney sparkle, colour and motion to it!!!

I think you can immediately figure out that we got to the park later than I expected. We didn't make it to the Voyage of the Little Mermaid. *hangs head in shame* First attraction of the day and this Dis-ser didn't even make it!!! My only excuse is that I ended up with a bunch of family friendly pictures down Hollywood Boulevard instead.

And if you've checking out the boring mostly all black and white image in detail, it will give you an idea of the pictures to come on this day; assuming that I managed to hightail the family to it.

What did I learn?

  • I liked that the system listed out every single possible DHS attraction.
  • In addition, I liked that I could select any DHS attraction and add it to my list; FP+ or not. This created my itinerary for the day and I could refer back to it at any time so that I stayed on-plan.
  • I also liked that the system showed the time of the events I had picked; including my FP+ return window and my ADR booking time.
  • There were a couple of spots in the day that I had big time gaps from the previous attraction to the next. I'd like to say that I deliberately planned it this way....but I didn't. It was how the cards fell. In hindsight, these gaps were perfect and if I had to do it all again, I would make sure that I did have those 'free time' periods in the day.
  • Whilst there were many things about the system that I disliked, they mostly related to operational and user experience aspects; as opposed to function. From a functional perspective, there was only one thing I would improve.....The way the selected options are displayed needs to be changed so that all items on the list, be they a hard booked FP+ or ADR; appear in time order.
  • And as I said before, I wish they would make this output screen a lot more colourful.

And, No! I didn't tell DH nor DS what I did. They would have completely admitted me to the funny farm if they knew the depths of my inner Dis-organiser geek gene.

It's time to ask yourself; what do you believe in? (Indiana Jones Stunt Show)

Around the way from the Tatooine Traders.....

.....we hit a completely different universe. One that was equally as familiar and well-loved.....to DH and myself; but not necessarily the case for DS.

I have long held the belief.....

......that despite the numerous people that worked on both Star Wars AND Indiana Jones franchise, there really is one clear answer to the perennial question......What do Star Wars......er.....Tours and Indiana Jones have in common?

As a lover of both franchises, the best thing about Star Wars for me is that fly-by-seat-of-his-pants fly-boy.

Han Solo IS also the best thing about Indiana Jones for me. Yes, I truly do believe that Han Solo and Indiana Jones are one and the same person.

However, despite all the smoke and mirrors......

.....and as much as I tried to ignore it initially, there was no ducking the issue.

I spotted it immediately. HE is NOT Han Solo.

But I was happy to roll with it.

Afterall, in Disney Hollywood Studios where anything is possible.....it was definitely time to ask myself.....what do I believe in?

There will always be the people willing to push away the magic and show you the truth.

Me? I'm happy to keep looking at the rose coloured buildings and believe in the magic.

The magic of movie making....and the fact that this Indy really could be Han Solo.

He certainly fights like Han. Even if he was outnumbered by the Storm Troopers....

......Indy can throw more than his weight around like Han.....and come out on top.

And he can crack that whip just like Han. Or is that crack the whip like Indy?

Yup. No doubt about it. Indy's a fly-boy like Han.

He certainly knows how to go off on a limb with the girls like Han.

I'm certainly falling for the magic.

You might even say that I've completely flipped out!

Quick! Someone hose me down before I get too carried away.

Sometimes, I have the attention span of a fly-boy; especially when it comes to......squirrel.

You better motor on into contention, pretty boy.

Wait....There were a few other squirrels around the area.

Really, there was no contest between the squirrels. There really was only one true contender. The others just faded into the background.

Exit stage-left for the rest.

No point hiding behind there, Indiana Han. I can see you.

You might as well come right out into the open.

It was definitely time to see who was contender and who was pretender.

Time to square-off boys.

As dances went, this boogie was rather lame.

I thought they needed a bit more practice. They certainly fell down a few times!

And a few of the moves got them off-balance.

And then it was time to turn up the heat.

Despite the smoke, we could all see that the contender might have been a whole head above.

But the man with the gun always wins.

You better hurry, Indiana Han. Where there's smoke, there's always fire.

Run, Forest, Run.

Oops! Wrong movie.

With all that smoke and fire, it was inevitable that the Death Star blew up in the end.

Corny? Heck YES! But this little bit of escapism was a lot of fun. I've always enjoyed the Indy franchise. It's just a shame that Episode 4 didn't quite hit the mark with the audience the way the second trilogy of the Star Wars franchise did. Still, this stunt show always makes me believe in the magic again. Go. Indiana Han!

And DS? Well....since we've come home, he's been enjoying watching the original Indiana Jones trilogy....over and over and over again. My job is done. :thumbsup2

ps.

Happy May the Fourth Be With You Day!

Happy May the Fourth be with you day too :thumbsup2 As I'm sitting here I'm thinking I must have seen that show 100s of times since the park first opened But through your eyes and commentary ( hysterical as usual ) I see it for the first time Hey I'm a believer too :thumbsup2

I've never seen the IJ stunt show. It looks pretty entertaining.

They don't give you options like that on MDE anymore. Looks like the test period was better.

Happy May For(ce)th! It's my "baby's" 21st birthday today!

Since the team I work with in MS is the Force, we wanted to do something Star Wars after the state testing, but the principal said no.:confused3
