Anyone flown into Samford

Decided to fly to Disney this time around instead of Driving from Norther Illinois. I was wondering if anyone has flow into Samford airport. Was wondering what it was like and what the best(quickest + reliable) rental car company is there. Also what the quickest way to the Downtown Disney hotels(Decided on the DTD Doubletree suites again). Thanks

Sanford airport is northeast of Orlando. It is a very small, uncrowded airport. It has several major rental car companies, but compared to Orlando, the rental car counters are open more limited hours.

We're flying Allegiant into Sanford and I've heard really good things about it!

Bumping for my own intrest and others... We are supposed to be getting Allegiant Air into our local airport and I am trying to get info on it and Sanford.

We've flown into Sanford the last 5 years. Much easier to get around than MCO. My one piece of advice is to choose a car rental company that is on site at the airport. We take the Turnpike(417) from right outside the airport to Disney. It costs you $3 or $4 but there is MUCH less traffic and it's very easy. It's about a 45 minute ride. You can also take I-4 but be prepared to encounter lots of traffic and probably some delays also.
