Anyone flown ATA into St Petersburg, FL?

We leave in a few days from Chicago headed to WDW and Marco Island after visiting friends in St Pete. We were able to get fairly decent fares a while back into St Petersburg and I'm curious in hearing anyone's experiences with this airport.

Also curious how easy it was to pick up your rental vehicle from Alamo? They had a great SUV rate and we've never booked with them. I'm having concerns that they won't have our vehicle when we get there or that it will take a lifetime to pick it up. Our flight gets in mid-morning Friday so I'm hoping that it won't be so bad. Any one have any experiences with this?

We flew out of St. Pete's last year with no problem. It's a midsized airport much less crowded than MCO. The car rental drop off was literally right outside the terminal although I'm not sure where the pick-up is.

We flew into and out of St Pete last August. It's a smaller airport but not that crowded. They didn't seem to have equipment to xray the luggage because there was someone hand checking luggage at the ticket stations. Rental car pick-up and drop-off are directly outside the airport doors about 1-2 min walk if not less. Very effortless to get on the highway and head to your destination. When you land it seems like your landing on the water.
