For anyone thinking they will send an express (or any other) package to a Disney resort with expected delivery on a weekend - it won't happen. I had a critical package that was sent express with expected delivery on Saturday, September 6. I checked status on the USPS website and saw that delivery would be made the next business day (Monday) because the business was closed Saturday. I checked with the front desk, they verified I had the correct mailing address. USPS customer service suggested I go see if I could retrieve the package from the post office location that services my resort. I had access to a car so I went off.
USPS manager called around and verified that their postal carriers are not allowed to drive to resorts. ALL mail goes to the Disney distribution facility for distribution to the resorts. The Disney distribution facility is CLOSED on weekends. I went back to the resort, and the resort manager verified this information. I've never seen this posted anywhere and it would have been nice to know before I wasted money, hours of my time at Disney running around trying to find a package I would never receive (I was leaving Monday morning, so although the package delivered to the distribution facility, it did not get to my resort before I had to leave), and more hours of my time trying to get the item I needed replaced (as I said, this was something critical that had been forgotten).
The manager at the hotel said they would send the package back to me once they receive it. No idea if and/or when that will happen.
I'm still not sure why a business that is open 24/7, 365 days a year would have a mail room that closes during normal expected deliveries. Seems like a bad business model to me.
