I'm taking my daughter on an overnight back-to-school shopping trip this weekend. We are going to the Mall at Rockingham Park in Salem, NH. Besides shopping, we plan on relaxing poolside, (hopefully the weather will cooperate), and going to the movies to see, Mean Creek, which opens on the 20th.

I can't find any info on movie theatres in that area. Does anyone know if there are theatres nearby? I did see something about a mini-golf course nearby. Anyone familiar with things in the Salem area?

I am not sure if there are any theaters in SALEM but there is one in LONDONDERRY and one in DERRY. If you do a web search of theaters in NH a bunch will pop up. I would think there is at least one theater in SALEM.

poohbear2- I did that but nothing comes up for Salem.:(

I will try the other areas you mentioned. Thanks!:)

Gosh, I grew up in Londonderry. I think it's kind of far to go from Salem to Londonderry for a movie. However, I used to work at the Mall at Rockingham Park and if memory serves (this was more than a decade ago, LOL) there is a movie theatre in Salem, on South Broadway. Hmmm, I think it' called Salem Tri-cinemas. I bet there are more, Salem is a pretty big city. Also, "The Loop" is a big shopping center area just over the border in Methuen, I bet there are movies there, and that's closer than Londonderry too. Londonderry is about a 20 to 30 minute drive from that part of Salem.

I spent many years in Methuen, just on the Salem NH border. Also own a home there (near The Loop) so I am familiar with the area.

The closest and largest movie theatre (Lowes) is in Methuen at "The Loop". It's located off of Rt 213, which connects both Rt 93 and Rt 495. They offer multiple theatres with stadium seating. Also there is a Starbucks, TGI Friday's, Yankee Candle, Macaroni Grill, Old Navy, Bugaboo Steak House and more.

The next largest theatres are the Showcase Cinemas in Lawrence, off Rt 495 (south towards Andover) on Rt 114.

As for the Salem Tri-Theatres, those are LONG GONE and were replaced with a Babies Are Us or some store of that kind.

There's mini golf in Haverhill/Bradford at Cedarland. It's not far off of Rt. 495 (north towards Haverhill/Salisbury).

I'll post some links soon:

Here they are:

Oh my! Really? I now feel really, really old, LOL. We had a family tradition, we (brother and cousins) used to go to a movie after dinner every Christmas, at the Salem Tri-theatre. :(

There are also theatres in Lawrence MA and Manchester NH too.

Are you going to be renting a car?
You may want to check out Lowell MA. They have Mill tours, spinners baseball games and much more.

Also if your daughter like ice skating check out the ice center in Pelham NH.

The Salem Tri movies was converted to a babies r us.

Here's a link of New Hampshire mini golf courses
