we're travelling pittsburgh to msp next week and am just wondering if there is anything i should know about midwest? i know we have assigned seats, so there's no "downloading boarding passes" in advance thing... i've been keeping an eye on their sale fares and they are still what i paid... there's no ding type program that i can find... anything i should know?

I haven't flown Midwest for years, but all I remember is that the seats were comfy and roomy, that they served FRESH baked chocolate chip cookies, and that you got service with a smile. I hope they still have those services and if they do, ENJOY your flight!

i read about those services... they sound heavenly! dh was quite impressed by the thought of cookies, although w/a 6:55 am flight, i'm not sure they'll be baking! LOL!

thanks :)

We love Midwest

They used to be unbelievable - every seat like 1st class with steak dinners the norm. But, like every airline, they have scaled back after 9/11, esp the meals which are purchase only, no more steak - $5 or $10 for salads, "wraps", etc. There normally aren't enough for every passenger to have a choice from the (limited) menu.

You will get complimentary snack & beverage service and depending on time of day, you still get the hot cookies. In our experience, they've maintained their reputation for excellent service.

They have 2 types of flights now -

saver service (usually to tourist dest) - 3x2 seating, cloth seats, but still more leg room than "normal" flights & yes, fresh baked choc chip cookies

signature service - 2x2 seating, nice wide leather seats with great leg room (& cookies)

HTH

our flights will have the 2x2 seating ('cause i had to select our seats) and i would LOVE fresh cookies, even at 7am! LOL!

You will LOVE it. I live 10 minutes from O'Hare and always drive up to Milwaukee (their hub airport) about an hour north of me. It is a super airline and you will really enjoy the 2 X 2 leather seating. You will think you stepped back in time. Enjoy.

I recently flew Midwest Airlines for the first time (DCA-MKE-MSP and return), and I am *hooked*. I plan to fly them whenever I can from now on, which basically means anytime I go to the west coast or to the further reaches of the midwest. Those longer flights are the ones for which the comfort makes the most difference, so it works out well.

If only Midwest flew to Europe!

well, this is all good to hear! i just hope it won't spoil me for when i have to fly southwest at the end of september! LOL!!

thanks all :)

It will, LOL. :thumbsup2

We just flew Midwest to KC and then drove to IA for DH's 40th High School reunion. It was wonderful. The changes in carry-ons were implemented while we were away, and we worried that screening would take forever. Midwest was very efficient. About the cookies -- I think it might be on flights after 10 am. There is also a feature on the web site where you can check in on-line. Unfortunately that's less useful now when I'll be checking baggage.
