Has anyone ever used Mobile Magic app? Is it worth it? Just wondering.:confused3 Thanks for the info...

I would like to know this too! We leave on monday and was wondering if this app would help.

Haha! I clicked on the thread because I wanted to know too! I was going to add it this week since it's good for 3 months I think. I guess we'll just sit here and wait patiently for someone to share :goodvibes

We paid 99 cents for the WDW Wait Times app today. We leave on Tuesday and have been watching line times all day.

So you don't have to be in the parks or within a certain distance of the parks to be able to check wait times, etc...? That's great! I was wondering about that :) Thanks!

Nope, I am up in the nither regions of Minnesota and dreaming about Tuesday.

I think this is a different app from Mobile Magic.

Mobile Magic will only give you specific wait times, FP times, etc. if you are actually within the park you are looking at. However, these are the most accurate times because they come right from the computers at Disney (beyond any update delays). Less specific info is available outside the parks. It is only available on non-smartphone Verizon phones though.

Other apps generally depend on user input, so its only as accurate as that input. However, the Touring Plans "Lines" app (which requires a subscription) uses statistical models in conjunction with input that has generally shown to be very accurate.

I have the Wait Times app on my Ipod just for my "fixes" ... but since I don't have an Iphone, the app won't work in the parks. I downloaded Mobile Magic a few weeks back but haven't actually sat down and fooled around with it. Reviews I've read say the information is accurate... it seems to have a lot of different sections of info (dining, characters, each park) and it looks like it may have a game or two inside. I'll play around with it tomorrow and report back (though obviously can't report back on accuracy until after our trip in August :) )

I bought it and may even remember to use it while we are there in two weeks. I can report back after my trip. I like the fact that it has hours for restaurants and attractions in Downtown Disney. The trivia game is fun, too. Just be careful - it gave me a free trial of the Toy Story Mania game and now I will probably end up buying that, too.

We have used Mobile Magic on two different trips. It is $10.00 for 6 months.

The wait times are 100% accurate, and we thought it was worth having, even though the navigation is a bit clunky, and I always have trouble reading the display in bright sunlight.

So, for those who have used to app, did you use it all the time, or was it more of a once and a while thing? I am pretty cheap when it come to things like this. I am thinking it would be a fun thing to have, but may not be essential to my trip.;)

Unfortunately, the app isn't available for smartphones (I have a Droid and dh has a Blackberry) so I'm going to be using Lines for our trip next week.

Verizon really missed the boat w/ this one not having a version for smartphones!

I think its not for smartphones is because they only are using phones that run the BREW operating system.

My reasoning for this, and its only speculation, is that there could be a possibly of you being able to steal the data from a smartphone because they are more open.

If you could fool the BB or droid into thinking that it was in the MK and then port the data to the internet other "apps" could use the data.

It seems like the BREW operating system is a very restrictive OS, similar to the iphone.

Verizon decided to support the great majority of phones that their customers have. Last I heard at least 60% of their phones were not "smartphones", and they have tighter control over the app space on them.

In order to support the smartphones as well, they need to port the application from BREW (which all their non-smartphones use), to whatever platform that particular smartphone uses...and there are at least 4 of those I can think of offhand, all very different - and that doesn't account for per-device and version differences.

They announced that they plan to support smartphones back when the initial release was made, but there hasn't been anything since.

We were in WDW last week (just got back yesterday) and used MMagic a lot! As another poster stated, the wait times for the park you are in are extremely accurate. It is really easy to use, and we used it several times a day, mainly to 1)decide whether or not to trek across the park to ride a particular ride and/or get a FP and 2) to decide whether to Park Hop or not.

One night we were at Epcot and trying to decide between going home, or jumping on the Monorail to MK. Although you only get general wait times for the park you are not in, it is still a good guide. That particular night, many of our favorite rides at MK were either "moderate" or "see now" lines...so we went on over. We were able to ride Thundermountain and Splash Mountain several times with only 5-10 minute waits. If many of our favorites were listed as "High Demand" we would have not chosen to go to MK. (Although conditions can always change:-).

One other way it helped is that we were at Epcot and kept checking the "Soarin" line time, as that is one ride that consistently seemed to have a 60+ minute wait, and the FP were all gone. At one point, it dropped to a 30 minute wait and we ran over there and got to ride it. Shortly thereafter, the line returned to a 60+ minute wait--so it really came in handy.

It was also helpful to see transportation options from one place to another.

Hope this helps,

Kelly

Just wanted to say we used it while inside parks to check on fastpasses return times (if you got one then) and also on line waits. We found it to be pretty accurate! We used it later to check on outside teh park interests, restuarants etc. and then hit 'dial' to talk to a CM for dinner ressies once or twice. I liked it and for $10 was worth it in our case, I actually got a kick out of being in a park and then having it find me! LOL Yeah, I know...!:)

So are there multiple apps for dining, FP times, lines, etc... or is it all one flat $10 fee and you get it all? Also, can you add this to your service online, or do you have to go into the store? Sounds fun!! Thanks :) :)

Hi SRUAlum: There is 1 fee for all the features that have been talked about in this thread. Here is link with more info, FAQ, etc:

http://disneyparksmobile.com/mobilemagic/

If your phone is compatible, you can download it directly to the phone, by texting the word "magic" to a particular number (this is on the website above). One thing I thought I should mention is that we have a non-smart phone that was not listed on the website as compatible, but we tried texting "Magic" to the specified number and it worked. So, even if your phone type is not listed, you can give it a try. (If your phone is not compatible, you will get a message back telling you this...so you will not be charged unless it will work for your phone.)

We thought it was really fun to have MM during our stay.

Thank you so much!! My phone was listed, but we are up for our 'New Every 2' and I wasn't sure if I got it on this phone and then got a new phone if they could transfer it like they do when they transfer data and everything. I would assume? Thanks again!! I can't wait to check it out!

I wouldn't say we used it a lot, but it came in handy a couple of times when checking out Standby Line wait-times.

On a very busy day in Epcot, we planned to do Spaceship Earth and The Seas with Nemo & Friends after World Showcase. But Mobile Magic showed that both Spaceship and Seas had 40 minute wait times! So we visited Club Cool and did Ellen's Energy Adventure first.

And in Magic Kingdom, when I checked Buzz and saw it had a 35-minute wait time, I grabbed Fast Passes, which I hadn't planned to do.
