Anyone ever use Mobile Magic?

We used when we were down there two weeks ago. Wait times were very accurate and we found it to be extremely valuable in deciding our path through the parks. :thumbsup2

We have used Mobile Magic on two different trips. It is $10.00 for 6 months.

The wait times are 100% accurate, and we thought it was worth having, even though the navigation is a bit clunky, and I always have trouble reading the display in bright sunlight.

Sorry to nag, but while the FASTPASS times should be 100% accurate (unless their system is slow to update), their wait times are only as accurate as the cast members and "red card" system allow them to be. While the app and the time posted outside an attraction should be the same number, often that time can be quite off. I've walked onto posted waits of 60 minutes, and waited an hour for attractions that have 10 minutes posted.

Yes, this is always true...typically those wait times are more accurate toward the middle of the day and are off during the early morning (as the initial buildup of guests continues) and evening (when they generally stop tracking and the number of guests entering goes down).

I noticed last night when I tried to check out the MK from home around 11:30 that nothing was showing up for FP times or wait times. I know last night was MK EMH, but since I was checking from home I wasn't sure if those times don't come up even in the parks or if it wasn't working just because I was trying from home. Can anyone share info about EMH in the parks and the times being listed? Thanks :) :)

There is a lot of criticism over the character times, but that is a real tough problem for them to solve. It only mentioned regularly scheduled characters. Many of them are not necessarily scheduled though, and they rotate fairly flexibly for breaks, etc.

Star Wars Weekends has its own schedule of characters, and even that is flexible.

But honestly, I think that is kind of the point. If I'm going to carry something around on cell phone that is updated on the fly, then I'd like it to be updated on the fly. If I wanted what the schedule was that was printed out yesterday, I could just pick up the times guide. The benefit of this kind of technology is to have updated information for those things that are flexible, rather than having old or static information. Otherwise, it is just a glorified piece of paper. you know what I mean?

I know what you mean, but to do that, they are going to need someone (like the handler) clock in and clock out each character as they get out there. And then the information would likely be useless anyways because telling you that Mushu is appearing right now in China when you are in France isn't really helpful if he's gone by the time you get there.

As I said, a number of characters are not necessarily on any sort of fixed schedule.

Yes, when I say the wait times are 100% accurate (at least in our experience), it means that the time listed by Mobile Magic is the same number listed at the attraction.

I didn't mean that the number posted is 100% the same as the actual standby line wait time experienced by any particular person who gets in line. Is there a program that can give me a more accurate actual standby line wait time than the wait time that is posted at the attraction?

I don't think it is really possible to be more accurate.

I'm sorry but I'm just going to disagree with you. The character cm's have a list in their pocket for each location. That paper has columns for the different characters and rows for different times. There may be some variations in that, but that is the point of having a real time updated system. I'm sorry, but I just don't think that pluto, jasmine, pocohontas, meeko, pinochio, gepetto, captain hook and schmee all just showed up at the animation building with no one knowing about it. And I think it would very helpful to be able to check in France and see that Mushu is in China FROM, SAY 11:20-11:40. Put the end time as the time the line will close. Then I can figure out for myself if I want to walk over from France. A lot better than walking over from France and trying to find someone to ask. So I think that would be very, very helpful actually.

Just because the information isn't managed and processed well at the current time is no reason that it couldn't be.

.
Mobile Magic will only give you specific wait times, FP times, etc. if you are actually within the park you are looking at. However, these are the most accurate times because they come right from the computers at Disney (beyond any update delays). Less specific info is available outside the parks. It is only available on non-smartphone Verizon phones though.

I downloaded the trial for Mobile Magic. I've been playing around with it and it seems pretty good. I understand the wait times will be specific once I'm in a park. My question is the "high demand FP available" I see now at home ...far from the parks...is this accurate info.? Can you at least get an idea whether to hop to another park based on this or is this info. really not reliable unless you are in that particular park? Thanks.

"high demand" translates into a wait time greater than some amount that Disney decided on. The other options are "see now" (wait time < some amount) and I forget the middle one. Not sure if someone has figured out what those times are. You get the same "descriptive" wait times if you just go to the mobile web page (http://m.disneyworld.com/).

"fastpass available" simply means that Fastpasses have not run out for the day yet.

For instance, right now - big surprise - TSM is listed as "High Demand - Fastpass: Unavailable".

Thanks. I guess I'm wondering where this info. comes from and if you can trust it to be accurate in terms of just giving you an idea of whether to hop to another park or not or whether FP's are really available or not. All the rides I checked that I would expect to see "High Demand" did indeed say "High Demand" but is this info. based on historical data or actually what is happening in the park today? :confused3

It comes from the same source as the info you get inside the parks - it is just more vague.

Loved your explanations especially the last part of the second one :thumbsup2.

I sure wish Sprint had something like this! :snooty:

Try Lines it works on most smart phones and is really accurate, and the subscription is good for a year. If you own a current UG copy you can get it for half price. On 2 trips and over 14 days in the parks we have found Lines wait times to be accurate about 95% of the time and usually more accurate than what Disney has posted outside (but they are rarely more than 10-15 min apart).

Kinda OT but Sprint's strives is to get customers into updated smartphones and caters to customers who want more than a basic voice plan so don't look for them to release anything that works on or is set for phones that are not the latest and greatest in updated technology.

So my big question is if you are in MK can you only look at MK info? What if you find it crowded and want to hop to another park how do you know which one has the shortest lines?

Those charecter pictures above are in the animation studio and what looks to be the AK Good Times Gathering spot which are both RANDOM locations and charecters are always subject to change or just not show up. I can see how and why they do not add that information to the application.

I saw something very similar on Mobile Magic yesterday (when we were in Epcot). I think there was about an hour window, give or take 20 minutes. It was more specific than the Times Guide, but didn't tell you when the next window would be.

We just got back from WDW and absolutely loved the app. I found wait times and fast pass availability to be almost exactly what the ride said. I was waiting at the exit to TOT and watch the FP time change and in just a short time the app would change. I talked to several CMs during Star Wars weekend and the characters were not lasting outside as long as they usually would - the heat was so bad. I don't see how the app could keep up with that.
