I'm wondering if we're not the only ones. We were walking by PoTC when we were stopped by a member of the Dream Team. She asked us if we liked Captain Jack Sparrow and DH said YES. She then asked us if we'd like to meet him and the kids started screaming NO! DD(3) said it the loudest and shouted that she didn't want to meet a real pirate. So we kindly had to tell the lady that we didn't want to meet him. She immediately turned to the next people walking behind us and asked them as we hightailed it out of there.

Oh well. It was actually comical.

I have heard of people turning down the dream fastpasses all the time (if they didn't like the rides). I even headr from a CM friend that people have actually turned down the Castle!! Though what provokes that I can not imagine... I would reschedule anything for a night there.

my daughter turned down the chance to be the "Princess of the Show" for the Beauty and the Beast show at MGM last year. We've already told her there will be no turning down chances like that this year, LOLOL!

Of course, we won't be offered one this time, I'm sure.

 They must be crazy!!! Unless their plane left that night or early the next morning or something, then maybe, just maybe, I'd understand. But I'd reschedule my plane. I wouldn't care what it cost. Come on, its THE CASTLE, for Pete's sake!!!

You know... DH and I were just discussing this... We would turn down the castle stay if it were offered to us... we don't have kids and I think a family with children would enjoy the magic :wizard: of staying at the castle more than us....

Not having kids isn't a problem if you're a local. A couple in their 70s here in Celebration won the castle stay, so they immediately called their next door neighbors, who have triplets, and they all stayed together!

My mother turned down a chance to ride ToT back to back without getting off.

We have a very hard time getting her through the dark basement cue and it was obvious that it was hard for her. A CM noticed it and then saw how much my almost 100 year old mother loves the ride. :scared1: When the door opened she asked us to stay put then had everyone else exit.

Then she told my mom she could stay on and ride again. My mom really did not understand what was being offered and said no well that is until we were in the gift shop!:rotfl: Then she wanted to ride again!

It would have been so neat!

I think I've read that if the chosen winner doesn't accept the prize, then there is not another winner. There's someone that posts on this board that has a fair amount of (first-hand?) DT knowledge, so I'm hoping they'll pop on and address this.

I thought about the castle thing. If it happened to us on our last night, I would totally switch flights to stay an extra day. I'm sure there are good reasons to not stay in the castle, but I sure can't think of any!

Without a doubt!! And my best friend and I have already told my boyfriend and her husband that if we she or I were the lucky ones to get that -- and only one family could go -- they were OUT OF LUCK cause we were taking her son and staying there without them!

Hey, after all it hasn't been THEIR dream to stay there ever since they were litttle girls right!!

People decline the castle, of course, because they have a flight to catch that evening or something.

Heck no! I'm a princess too and I would have been all up in Cindy's castle! We don't have kids either, but I would have been so excited.

Heck, you should take it and run with it. Remember if there's another winner, there's no guarantee that family will have kids or anything either. Once-in-a-lifetime opportunity!

We were talking to a Dream Team CM last week and I asked her about people turning down prizes. She said they just had a woman refuse a dining experience because her son was convinced it was a ploy involving a DVC sales pitch. The prize would have been up to $75 per person in the party at a few select restaurants, and there were 6 in the party.

She also told us about one day it took them 3 tries to award the castle, so they do keep trying until they get a winner for the day.

They can just ask me, we will gladly change our lives to stay in the castle and we are more than open to graciously accepting any YOMD gifts bestowed upon us.

So far I have been given a pin for each time I have been in Disney, except the first time it started. Then I traded for a YOMD management pin. We have also won two sets of ears in the mail.

The best was the last time in Disney, this June. We had a terrible evening at O'hana's. DS has autism, the nannies all went out and to met some guys and DS was on the spectrum. I was in tears by the time we had left. I asked for nose ride on the monorail. We waited several mono's and the CM said to go up. Right then a group from the 1st car jumped into the nose and stole our ride. I walked back, still in tears, and a nice CM in blue shirt asked what was wrong. I went on the long rant of the autism, no help, losing our ride, etc.

He then said it was YOMD and it is our turn. We got to ride in the tail of the monorail! It is for Presidents of large countries, Oprah! And we got to stay on until we wanted to get off. It was truly a dream come true at the exact right time. Thanks Disney.

I haven't ever had a dream offer, but if it were something that really didn't appeal to me or my family I could see doing so. Too bad you didn't get a dream that would have been a dream for you.

My 5 yr old nephew was offered a tour of the control tower on Space Mountain and then to ride twice with just our family (there were 6 of us).....he declined and as much as we tried to get him to say yes...he kept shaking his head NO... :( (I wanted to see the control tower)
