AARP offers an online defensive driving course for about $20 that will save money on your car insurance for about 3 years (depending on your state). Has anyone taken the online course? Just wondering if it is as horribly boring as the ones that you take in class. They are about 5 hours long!

I took one of the classes about a month ago. It was very boring. The worst part was that I would finish reading all the info I had to read but then would have to wait 10 or 15 minutes for the "timer" to be up. It wouldn't let you take the section exam until a certain amount of time was up. For me it was worth taking it, I got in a fender bender and if I took the class I could avoid points on my license.

The Red Cross also offers this class, though I don't think it's online...

Did you have to call a phone number every once in a while? This one says that when they put a phone number on the screen, you have to call immediately so that they know that you are paying attention.

I think I would rather take the one that you have to sit in the class for rather than online- at least I can play on my itouch or read while I am at that one---the one online there is to much paying attention to do for me! We get this at my job that we can take on work time so I usually take it there-sit in the back and veg out.

I didn't have to call a number. Different screens came up that I had to read, once I was finished I would click to go to the next screen. If I didn't click soon enough a prompt would come up asking me if I was still there. Also, during the "class" a box would occassionally pop up that I had to click on to show that I was paying attention to the computer.

Thanks! I was wondering how much attention I would actually have to pay to the class!
