Just wanted some reviews....anyone ever stay there or anywhere else in Newport, RI?

My hubby and I have stayed a few times at the Hyatt on Goats Island. It's a very nice place with pretty views. There is a short bridge to get Goats Islands and we enjoy walking across it to town. One time when we were there Billy Joel and Armani's yachts were docked there. It was pretty cool!

Here's a link to their website. The bridge shown in the pictures is not the bridge I am referring too! LOL

From the pics on their site it looks beautiful. Hubby and I have been dying to stay there for a long time but, haven't been able to set a date yet. My mother and her boyfriend just came back from Newport and they stayed at the Castlehill Inn. They loved it. My mother even called me while she was there because she just had to share how beautiful the place was! She hasn't stopped raving about it! She said she would definately go back. Here's a link:

Some friends of mine rent a home in Newport every summer and I've stayed with them.

There is a fabulous Marriott in Newport with great views and a wonderful location that I would consider if I were not staying in a private home.

I second the Castlehill Inn. The grounds are beautiful! They have a great Sunday brunch! If you want a massage, they will arrange for it and you can have it done in your room. My college friends and I stayed in the Rustic Cottages once for a girls weekend. Avoid the rustic cottages and stay in the Inn itself or the Beach cottages.

We stayed at Castlehill for part of our honeymoon in something called Harbor House. We have other names for it, but they would be censored on this board. The main inn and the grounds were wonderful, but this place was an absolute dump. It's hard to believe that a place as nice as the inn would even rent unsuspecting people rooms in such a place. My dh was devastated.

Fortunately, it was only a part of our honeymoon and the next place was wonderful. Funny story--when we arrived at our next stop, Nantucket, the desk person at the hotel said that we would not be in the main house but rather in the Garden Cottage. My dh almost died -- flatly refused to go anywhere except the main building. The flustered clerk assured us that it was one of the nicest rooms they had. Sure enough, our room turned out to be an entire floor of a little three-story victorian cottage surrounded by gardens. The room was beautiful, and they had champagne waiting!
